Effortless Excellence

When you’re up against the best of the best, don’t even set your eyes on them. Comparison is toxic and it just stirs up the flesh to use ungodly ways to get ahead.

Daniel was excellent not because he tried to be, but it was God’s blessing and power working in him. Daniel’s secret was that he had a close relationship with God, praying and meditating on the Scriptures every day. The benefits of these spiritual activities were tangibly visible in his daily life.

Keep your eyes on the Lord Jesus and receive His grace for your work and in whatever you do. Pray at all times; receive God’s word and meditate on it whenever you can. As you enjoy these, believe that God is supplying good ideas, necessary connections, technical ability, and wisdom that you need to excel.

Public and Private Success

“This is a faithful saying: if a man seeks the office of an overseer, he desires a good work. The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching; not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence; (but if a man doesn’t know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the assembly of God?) not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭3:1-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Whether or not you get to be an overseer in the church in this lifetime, you can choose to live as though you are one, with the same moral excellence displayed both publicly and privately. This is not to impress man, but to live in a way that pleases and glorifies God.

How do all these good qualities in the passage above happen? You cannot fake them, if not your actions may seem holy but your mind and heart will be a cesspool of evil.

The transformation has to happen from the inside out through receiving God’s word. It takes time for God to work on you. As you consistently receive His word, He will transform you, making your soul more Christ-like, in actions, emotions and thoughts.

It starts with wanting to be transformed. Do you want to be even more sanctified in your walk with the Lord, or are you okay with just being like the world?

“Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter‬ ‭5:5-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Subject yourselves to those who are found worthy as overseers and humbly learn from them. When you are ready, God will promote you. There should be no rush in this matter because our eyes are on the Lord and not on the glory of the leadership roles.

This year, may we be found worthy as children of God who have the spirit of an overseer, blameless in God’s sight, by His grace alone!

Even if you never get the honor of serving as a leader in church in this lifetime, Jesus still has important roles for you in the Millennium and beyond. 【中大獎助學金 料惠及逾千聯招學生】
應屆文憑試考生面對了一場不一樣的考試！為嘉許考生克服挑戰，並支援家庭經濟受影響的考生，中大本年再度推出「新生入學奬學金」，並增設「疫境自強助學金」，預料逾1000位聯招學生受惠。

在2020年度經聯招入讀中大，並於文憑試考獲六科或以上5**成績，除可獲「全免學費獎學金」及三萬元「海外交流獎學金」外，中大更會向他們額外提供二萬元的「學習津貼」。修讀六年制醫科課程所得之入學獎學金最高總額將高達402,600元；而其他四年制本科課程之入學獎學金最高總額則達278,400元。

而在文憑試考獲三至五科5**成績的聯招新生，除可獲入學獎學金，更可獲發一萬元海外交流獎學金，資助他們往海外交流學習或參加外展體驗活動。考獲兩科5**成績的聯招新生，則可獲發五千元入學獎學金。

此外，中大設立新的「疫境自強助學金」（CUHK Perseverance Bursary），嘉許本年度文憑試考生，協助受新型冠狀病毒肺炎疫情影響的聯招申請人渡過難關。成功申請者可獲港幣最少一萬元助學金，最高金額為全年學費四萬二千一百。

校方期望透過奬助學金，獎勵求知若渴並獲取佳績的學生，亦鼓勵他們自強不息，繼續朝目標進發，寄望受惠同學日後學有所成，回饋社會。

【CUHK Offers Admission Scholarships and New Perseverance Bursary to Benefit 1000 JUPAS Students】
This year’s HKDSE students experienced a very “special” exam! To recognize the effort of the students who have persevered and to ease the financial strain on their families, CUHK offers “University Admission Scholarships” and launches the new “Perseverance Bursary” that will benefit more than 1,000 admitted JUPAS students.

For entry in 2020, JUPAS admittees with Level 5** in 6 or more subjects in HKDSE will be given a study allowance of HK$20,000, on top of a full-tuition scholarship and an exchange scholarship of HK$30,000. The maximum total amount of a University admission scholarship would be HK$402,600 for a 6-year medical programme, and HK$278,400 for a 4-year programme.

New students who have attained Level 5** in 3 to 5 subjects in HKDSE will be given, on top of the admission scholarships for which they are eligible, a scholarship of HK$10,000 for overseas exchange or outreach activities. Students admitted to CUHK with Level 5** in 2 subjects will be eligible for an admission scholarship of HK$5,000.

CUHK also announces a new “CUHK Perseverance Bursary” in recognition of the unwavering determination of HKDSE candidates, and to support admittees who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Successful applicants will receive a sum of no less than HK$10,000 each, up to a full-tuition amount of HK$42,100.

The University rewards determined students with outstanding results, who are committed to strive for excellence and contribute to society after their graduation.

香港能成為全球工時最長的城市，全靠無盡的工作，不論你的效率有多高，工作還是沒完沒了，「打工仔」為保飯碗只能犧牲自己的私人時間，這是你接受的人生嗎？
若能堅毅的放下工作，出走到大自然洗滌一下心靈，重新思索自己的路向，也許你能走得更遠！

本片以 Timelapse 及 Hyperlapse 的手法拍攝，帶出香港都市的生活節奏急速，同時也有周邊的郊野公園為市民放鬆心情，結合這些都市及自然的景觀，這才是世界最漂亮的城市。

Hong Kong is notorious for its long working hours among other countries and cities in the world. No matter how fast and efficient you are in a company, you can seldom leave the office before sunset. Yet, some people are much worse than that! They have to bring the unfinished duties home as home office. These endless duties have threatened the workaholic to risk. Is this the ideal life that you are expecting? If you are courageous eniugh, try to give yourself a little break; spend some time with nature and be with it. Let nature refresh yourself. Reflect upon the road you have chosen to drive on or you may have unexpected rewards in return. Your future could be much brighter than what you have now!

This time, my latest production "Escape" was made by the methods of Timelapse and Hyperlapse. On the one hand, it reflects the seriousness of long working hours and imbalanced city life of most Hong Kong people; on the other hand, the camera brings you to indulge yourself again with the stunning naturalscape. It can calm us down and let our minds relax for a while. These stunning views of Hong Kong perhaps make itself be the best and happiest city in the world.

So why don't let go yourself from the bustle and hustle then?
