One of the greatest gifts I can give my kids is to prepare them to be responsible, empowered adults around knowlegable on how to manage their money 💵
In our little family, the first step in teaching them the value of saving is to help them distinguish between wants and needs, explains to them that needs include the basics, such as food, shelter, and clothing, and wants are all the extras.
To them, being told to save, without explaining why, may seem pointless. With the help of The Institute of Financial Literacy, I get to show them the importance of living within their means, a little sacrifice today goes a long way tomorrow. Not only are they providing free and unbiased financial educational programmes (available to the public.) they also run free financial education programmes that cover basic money management and do not promote financial products. They’re all about guiding our little ones to become smart about money from early age.

Kids: Daddy's money is for me to buy toys! Me: Yeah yeah... then food drop from sky is it?
Often, kids doesn't know the importance and value of money. So we educate them on how to earn, spend or invest.
@squirrelsave wants to bring awareness on the importance of financial literacy, while allowing children to watch their savings grow. Participants will be introduced to the globalised world of investments via KidSave, where they can set up an investment goal for each child below 18 years old, with parents deciding the risk profile setting for the goal.
Their FREE webinar is on 26 Nov, Thursday which is tomorrow, at 7.30pm!

Late last year, I reached out to Income OrangeAid to explore ways we could work together. OrangeAid is a community development programme that empowers youths-in-need through education. They support tertiary students from low-income families through bursaries, financial literacy workshops, and character development training.
What started out as conversation over coffee has culminated into a full-fledged Alumni Coaching Programme. The programme was launched on 21 April 2018, and I was given the honour of being the programme’s first official coach for its #FutureSpeak Seminar Series!
During the launch, I spoke with tertiary students about how I started my career using social media and shared some thoughts on digital advertising. We also had lively discussions on the importance of personal branding and the exciting possibilities ahead for social media careers.
You can read more about my partnership with #IncomeOrangeAid in this post.
