Menerusi laporan baru-baru ini, terdapat lebih 500 orang Yang kini hidup gelandangan di Johor Bahru. Saya menitahkan agar pembinaan Pusat Transit Gelandangan di Johor Bahru dipercepatkan supaya mereka yang hidup gelandangan ini dapat tempat tinggal yang lebih selesa dan bantuan dari segi makanan dan kesihatan dapat disampaikan kepada mereka.

Dalam keadaan pandemik Covid-19 ini, mereka yang hidup gelandangan ini adalah antara golongan yang paling terdedah kepada jangkitan virus Covid-19 kerana mereka terpaksa tinggal di tepi-tepi jalan atau di tempat awam.

Saya juga menitahkan agar rumah gelandangan sementara diwujudkan dengan segera. Dengan adanya rumah gelandangan sementara, maka risiko jangkitan akan menurun dan mereka juga dapat divaksinasi sambil diberi sokongan yang sepenuhnya untuk kembali kepada kehidupan normal.

Mereka juga manusia dan berhak untuk menjalani hidup yang bermaruah. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

According to a recent report, there are more than 500 homeless people living in Johor Bahru. I have decreed for the construction of the homeless transit centre in Johor Bahru to be expedited so that the homeless can have a more comfortable place to live and assistance in terms of food and health can be provided to them.

During this Covid-19 pandemic, homeless people are among the most vulnerable to the Covid-19 virus infection because they are forced to live by the roadside or in public areas.

I have also decreed for a temporary shelter to be established immediately. With this temporary shelter, the risk of infection will decrease and they can be vaccinated and also given full support to return to a normal life.

They are also human beings and have the right to live a dignified life. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

⭐️五月是美國亞太裔傳統月！美國亞太裔外交官在美國國務院扮演重要的角色，在AIT的運作上更是如此！在整個五月份，我們將為各位介紹AIT亞太裔官員的重要貢獻。今天要和大家介紹的是AIT經濟組副組長邵靄帝(Arati Shroff)的故事。

✨印度裔美國人是美國第二大亞裔族群，長久以來為美國開闢新的傳統和發展途徑。我父母是在印度獨立運動時期出生於印度，隨後於1970年代移民美國，攻讀更高的學位並尋找嶄新的機會。父母在美國拉拔我們長大時，就常常灌輸我們seva的觀念 (梵語中的無私的服務)，提醒我們時時幫助需要幫助的人，並為我們周遭的社群做出貢獻。

除了在美國慶祝印度新年排燈節 (Diwali) 及荷麗節 (Holi) 之外，我們也懷著seva的精神，在美國傳統節慶感恩節及聖誕節時，在當地遊民收容所、糧食補助庇護所及養老院擔任志工，希望能為沒有家人朋友在身邊的人們帶來溫暖。這份seva及服務他人的精神深深影響著我，這也是我隨後加入美國國務院並派駐海外擔任外交官的原因之一。

⭐️It’s Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! AAPI diplomats are a vital part of the State Department, and especially our AIT operation! All month, we look forward to featuring the important contributions of our AAPI colleagues. Today we are sharing AIT Economic Deputy Chief Arati Shroff’s story with you.

✨Indian Americans are the second largest group of Asian Americans in the United States and have a rich history of forging new paths and traditions in America. My parents were born in India during the time of India’s independence movement and immigrated to the U.S. in the 1970s to pursue higher education and new opportunities. As they raised my siblings and me in America, my parents also instilled in us a sense of “seva,” (or “selfless service” in Sanskrit) to remind us to always help others in need and build and contribute to communities around us.

Alongside celebrating Indian holidays of Diwali and Holi in America, we also embraced the spirit of “seva” and volunteerism during traditional American celebrations of Thanksgiving and Christmas by volunteering at local homeless and food shelters and retirement homes to cheer up those missing their own families and loved ones. This sense of “seva” and service to others left a deep impression on me and is one of the reasons why I joined the U.S. Foreign Service to become a diplomat overseas.

This photo of my family is from my official swearing-in ceremony at the State Department’s Benjamin Franklin reception room in Washington, DC thirteen years ago. I am excited that Asian Americans are increasingly joining careers in public service to represent and preserve American democratic ideals and values. 今天我特別早起去參加一個由朋友主辦的公益活動！
在離台北車站很近的教堂舉辦，在我抵達時，我的目標是被指派去幫助在台北車站的街友，準備食物、備菜以及切菜。
當一切就緒，我們走遍台北車站告訴每一位我們發現的街友，我們將會在早上11:30供應餐點。
如上述所說，在11:20時，已經有接近50個街友在外排隊，等待食物的到來。

很開心可以參與其中，感謝我可以幫助這些人。
我永遠無法忘記此刻的感受，
很榮幸我有一位這樣的朋友，

Today I woke up earlier specially to attend a charity event that one of my friend is helping to organize!
The meeting place was in a church, located near taipei main station. At the moment I arrived, I was instructed to start preparing and cutting some vegetables as our goal would be to prepare food for the homeless people that lives near taipei main station area. Once everything was ready, we went around Taipei main station informing the ones that we could find that we would be serving the food at 11:30am
As said, by 11:20am, we had a line of people(around 50) outside, waiting for the food to be served.

Happy to be part of it and grateful to be in serve of others.
Can’t forget to mention how proud I am to have friends leading such a beautiful organization! ❤️

A little short quarantine food compilation! I was quarantined for 2 weeks inside SKKU's university dorm, and I want to share with you guys the food we got for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the 2 weeks. I honestly got bored of the food on day-3, so I decided to turn the food into cute snoopy and panda bentos~

和大家分享我2週在韓國隔離宿舍裡吃的三餐～每天真的都是幾乎一模一樣的便當盒和三明治，所以在隔離無聊的時間就決定把無趣的便當做成可愛的史努比造型和熊貓造型便當盒。

The Budapest Bike Maffia is among Hungary’s fastest-growing charitable organisations; it was established at Christmas in 2011 by a small group of young cyclists.

Today, its key mission is the distribution of food and fundraising, focussing on helping those who are homeless and families in need. Each year, the BBM team – made up of over 100 volunteers – take to their bikes to distribute over 100,000 meals, in addition to operating 12 innovative charity projects.

These include Sweet Home, which sees volunteers working to create comfortable homes for local families living in council housing; the Seeds of Hope gardening project; and the BBM 50! initiative, which has the goal of increasing empathy and changing negative attitudes towards Budapest’s homeless population.
