We’ve moved into Toa Payoh for nearly a year now, and we are so happy we decided on this estate! It took us about 4 months from viewing the resale flat to getting our keys, which is so much faster compared to getting a BTO.

Besides the close proximity to town, there are a lot of good food options in the area. There are also multiple MRT stations in Toa Payoh, a bus interchange, town park, and even a SAFRA clubhouse - which are all very important for us when we were considering this home. We want this to be somewhere we can live for a long time, and make good memories in.

The process of purchasing a BTO or resale flat can be daunting, so if you need some help, you can visit mynicehome.gov.sg to get more information and tips!

2021年2月3日晚上10點59分，就立春了，我們便正式進入了金牛年！對，不是等到大年初一，是立春一到，牛大哥就來接棒了！

1977年，在貝雅士蓄水池上段的開幕會上，當時的李光耀總理發表了一段振奮人心的演講，宣布要打撈清理新加坡河和加冷河。

他說：「保持水質清澈，使每條小溪，每個涵洞，每條小河流都免受不必要的污染應該是一種生活方式。十年後，讓我們在新加坡河和加冷河都可以釣魚。這是可以辦到的。

當我們實現（乾淨的河流）的那一天，無論過去十年或接下來的十年中是哪些人負責，如果我還在，我將給他們每個人 - 部長、常任秘書長和部門主管 – 一枚真正純金牌，一金衡盎司。我不在乎會花多少錢……但是如果它沒有完成的話……如果我在1986年裡仍在掌管，我會找出問題出在哪裡，無論是誰，無論是哪一群人使它出錯和失敗……嗯，我有特別的鉛 - 不是用來打造獎牌的 - 我想我會把它們添加到他們的水源中。」

新加坡河約3.2公里長，加冷河約十公里長。

在新加坡河旁邊有養豬場、擅自佔地居住者、街頭小販、蔬菜販子，造船廠（用於建造駁船），造成了河水裡所有的污染。

數十萬人，數十年的污染。

一位盲人電話接線員在位於萊佛士坊的李光耀夫人律師事務所工作。他每天都乘坐公共巴士去上班，並且總是知道何時下車。因為這新加坡河實在太臭了，只要巴士一過河，他就已聞到了。

然而，只需要一個人堅信並說出：「可以做到。」

就這樣，一切的助緣便開始啟動了。

In 1977, at the official opening ceremony of Upper Pierce Reservoir, the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew gave a rousing speech, announcing the cleaning up of Singapore River and Kallang River.

He said, "It should be a way of life to keep the water clear, to keep every stream, every culvert, every rivulet free from unnecessary pollution. In ten years, let us have fishing in the Singapore River and fishing in the Kallang River. It can be done.

The day we achieve that [clean river], whoever has been in charge for the last ten years or for the next ten years, if I am still around, I will give each one of them – both the Minister, the Permanent Secretary and the head of department – a real solid gold medal, one troy ounce. I don’t care what the price of it will be… But if it isn’t done… If I am still around and in charge in 1986, I will find out where it went wrong and whoever, whichever group of people made it go wrong and failed… Well, I have got special pieces of lead – not for striking medals – I think I’ll add it to their water supply."

Singapore River is 3.2km long. Kallang River is 10km long.

There were pig farms, squatters, street hawkers, vegetable sellers, shipyards (for building tongkangs) beside Singapore River, causing all the pollution.

Tens of thousands of people. A river with decades of pollution.

A blind telephone operator worked in the law firm of Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, which was at Raffles Place. He took the bus to work every day and always knew when to get off the bus. For the river was so smelly that he could smell it, as the bus crossed the river.

Yet all it took was one man to say and believe "It can be done".

With that, everything else was set into motion.

For the sake of his country and the many generations after, Mr Lee Kuan Yew took an unprecedented first step and kickstarted unimaginable drastic changes.

Here's some courage and wisdom for you! I hope you can change for the better for yourself and your family and nab that special gold medal for your Destiny!

At Tobu Zoo (who also used to collaborate with the famous anime JAPARI PARK!) you can feed the elephants (JPY500) white Tiger (JPY500) and alpacas (JPY300) like me and Anna (@_kirakiratsu_ on INSTAGRAM 💖) did! They're not included in the ticket but you can get closer to fthe floofiness from just JPY300 to JPY500 - I've never fed any wild animals except sheep on a farm as a kid, and boy I can tell you, it always stays a precious experience! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و

Me and Anna departed from Sky Tree Station (look at the "P.S:" below for those wo want to know more!) in Asakusa, which is part of the Tobu Railway system!
All we had to do is ask for the special discount Tobu Railway, Bus & Zoo tickets and got two railway round trip tickets to Tobu Dobutsu-Koen Station including the bus to and from Tobu Zoo,
with tickets to the whole park on a discount! This works at any Tobu Railway Station (୨୧ᵕ̤ᴗᵕ̤)

P.S: Never heard of Sky Tree? It's the biggest tower in the world, and during the Holiday Season also turns into the biggest Christmas Tree that ever existed!

Latrell Sprewell arrived early, entered the game
late and disappeared down the stretch along with the rest of his
team.

Sprewell played his first game of the season, but couldn't
reverse the New York Knicks' slide as the Philadelphia 76ers scored
17 of the final 25 points for a 93-92 victory Saturday.

''C-plus,'' Sprewell said when asked to assess his performance.
''I could have been a lot better.''

The 76ers won on the road for the first time this season, while
the defeat was the fourth in a row for the Knicks. Allen Iverson and
Todd MacCulloch each scored 17 points, Keith Van Horn had 15 points
and 12 rebounds and Eric Snow added 14 points for the 76ers.

The habitually tardy Sprewell arrived at the arena six minutes
before his team's 11:30 a.m. deadline, then made his first
appearance nine minutes into the game -- the first time he came off
the bench since the 1999 playoffs.

Sprewell played 31 minutes and had 16 points on 6-for-15
shooting but was held scoreless for the final 10 minutes.

Howard Eisley had 16 points and 10 assists for the Knicks, whose
1-8 record is the worst in the Eastern Conference.

''We have a whole lot of basketball left,'' Sprewell said. ''If
we give up now, it could get a whole lot worse.''

Sprewell, who missed the first seven weeks of the preseason and
regular season while recovering from a broken hand, scored seven of
his points in a 16-4 run bridging the third and fourth quarters as
New York turned a 63-58 deficit into a 74-67 lead. The rally
injected some life into a crowd that had been waiting nearly all
season for something to cheer.

Sprewell was poised to restore the Knicks' seven-point lead
after he poked the ball away from Snow and went in alone for a
breakaway dunk. But a moment before he jammed the ball with two
hands, Kurt Thomas body checked trailing defender Brian Skinner and
was called for a foul, erasing the basket.

''I'm still mad at Kurt,'' Sprewell said with a laugh.
''Actually, he said he thought (Skinner) was going to foul me.''

Thomas picked up a technical foul for arguing during a timeout
less than a minute later, and Iverson hit the foul shot to cut the
deficit to four. Eisley answered with a 3-pointer and Othella
Harrington hit two foul shots for a 79-70 lead.

It was 84-76 with 6:05 left before the 76ers rallied, holding
New York without a field goal for four minutes and using an 11-2
run to take an 87-85 lead.

Iverson tied it at 89 on two foul shots with 1:52 left. Michael
Doleac missed a jumper and Van Horn scored on a putback, making it
91-89, and Allan Houston missed a jumper from the corner with 30
seconds left.

Game notes
Keith Bishop, a 31-year-old school bus driver from Hudson
Falls, N.Y., hit a shot from halfcourt to win $1 million. He
received a handshake from Iverson and a roar from the crowd that
was many times louder than the cheers that greeted Sprewell when he
checked in for the first time. ... To make room for Sprewell on the
active roster, forward Mark Pope was placed in the injured list. ...
Knicks coach Don Chaney indicated that Charlie Ward (bruised lower
leg) will not return until Friday night at the earliest. ''He's not
close to being ready yet,'' Chaney said. ... Houston missed a free
throw late in the fourth quarter, his first miss after 33
consecutive makes. ... The last time the Knicks were 1-8 was
1985-86.
