How Biblical Prosperity Looks Like
“But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. Take that, and give it to them for me and you.”” (Matthew 17:27 WEB)
When Jesus was on earth, He didn’t live in a palace, He didn’t own lots of land and He wasn’t considered a rich man. He wasn’t poor or destitute either. He earned a living as a carpenter and owned His own house in Capernaum.
Whenever there was a need, He never lacked. When there was no food in the deserted countryside, He multiplied loaves of bread and fishes. To pay the temple tax, He received a supernatural word of wisdom from His Father that He would send a fish with a coin in its mouth to provide the payment.
This is Biblical prosperity that every believer can experience—to have no lack and always be supplied for every need.
Not every Christian will be a multi-millionaire—there is a special calling for rich believers and that is to be generous givers towards the work of the Gospel.
Notice that God the Father didn’t create a silver coin for Jesus out of thin air. God provides for our needs through legitimate channels—He gives us the power to obtain wealth by giving us creative ideas and knowledge that will result in income if we act on them as led by the Holy Spirit.
God knows where all the ‘fishes with silver coins in their mouths’ are. He can direct them to swim towards you and tell you when to reel them in. This is the special advantage we have as children of God—we have insider info from the all-knowing, all-powerful God.
“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.” When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.” (Luke 5:4-6 WEB)
Work harder, no sleep, grind hard, no pain no gain. These are all the world can do because they can only rely on their own fleshly smarts, strength and abilities which are limited by the capabilities of man.
Without God’s favor, you can toil stressfully all night, sacrificing everything in life and still get nothing.
“Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.” (Psalms 127:1-2 WEB)
Rely on Jesus—through His Spirit in you, He can guide you what to do and exactly when to do it to haul in the biggest catch. You can tap on His unlimited wisdom and power.
It helps to swim along the river’s powerful current instead of against it—you’ll go further, faster!
The four gospels are full of powerful truths and if you read it right, you’ll see God’s heart of love and Grace towards us. Understand them through the lens of the New Covenant of Grace: https://bit.ly/understandeveryparable

When Everyone is Looking for You
“Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Simon and those who were with him followed after him; and they found him, and told him, “Everyone is looking for you.”” (Mark 1:35-37 WEB)
“Everyone is looking for you.” What a stressful statement.
It’s so easy to fall into demand-consciousness when it feels like everyone needs a piece of you.
It’s as if you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders and if you disappear, everything will come crashing down.
I’m not saying that the needs aren’t urgent or real—there were many people who needed healing and deliverance from Jesus. However, it is so important to do what Jesus did.
He prepared for the challenges of ministry by spending time with God alone. He sat at His Father’s feet.
Jesus took that precious time to recharge and refresh Himself, to receive the abundant supply from the Father.
“As they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.” Jesus answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.”” (Luke 10:38-42 WEB)
When you rush headlong into the daily grind of life, you’ll be more likely to burn out, get angry and mess up. Like Martha, you’ll see only the demands and not the supply.
Be like Mary, and choose to rest at Jesus’ feet and listen to His words first—this is the one thing you should not neglect.
Then, being fully conscious of the grace that’s available to you, go out and do your work. You’ll find yourself being more effective, energetic, and guided by God’s wisdom.
Mary had work to do as well. But she choose to work out of rest. Martha chose to deny herself from both inward and physical rest until her work was done—no wonder she felt so frustrated and angry. Martha was serving out of emptiness and relying on her fleshly strength, not in the strength of the Lord.
““Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33 WEB)
Take your time to receive God’s grace and favor every morning. Confess that because you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, all of God’s blessings are “Yes” and “Amen” for you.
See that God’s kingdom is within you—the Holy Spirit will lead and supply you with the desire and ability to fulfill God’s purposes. You have everything you need, and nothing is lacking.
If you skip this important step, you’re setting yourself up for a bad day. Demand-consciousness can set in very quickly because it is the natural tendency of the flesh.
In a world where it is easy to worry about many things, where it feels like everyone is looking to take from you, prioritize the one needful thing—focus on Jesus and receive from Him first. Everything else will be settled, God will make sure of that!
