Thanks so much for watching my YouTube channel! It's time for my new lesson for this week.

It's Lesson #6!! How about bending technique? Most people practice bending with phrases. But I normally practice only bending part. Please watch my video for the details.

1) Practice bending with C Major scale on 3rd, 2nd and 1st strings.
Slowly, checking the right pitch. Try to use less pressure from your fret hand.

2) Similar idea on E Major scale. Only use the 2nd string. Bend each 2nd note to 3rd note.
This way you can play like melodies.

3) Apply this technique into C slow blues. Play slowly to focus on each pitches.
Then you can play it in tempo. Bend 1st & 2nd strings.

4) Now change the key! It’s E! Focus to bend with 2nd & 3rd strings.
Watch out each pitches carefully, because different strings set, different positions has a different tension.

It’s so important not to use too much pressure from your left hand. Use as much as less pressure possible!

今週のヴィデオのレッスンは、ファンクギター、左指のミュート、右手の大きな振りです。僕もファンクのリズムが大好きですが、もしただ好きなことだけ今までやってたらこんなにきれいにミュートできてないと思います。いくつかのステップスが大事です。

This week's lesson will be focus on funk rhythm guitar playing. It's important these points: Left hand mute, right hand to swing bigger motion etc. I love funk guitar style very much, but if I only practice what I like to do (this case just funk guitar), I won't improve my guitar playing like these muting technique. There are a few important steps.

１）右手大きく振る。かなり大きく、肘から振る事。
Swing your right hand with wide motion.

２）全て左指でミュートすること。
All muted by your left fingers.

３）シンプルなコード、シンプルなラインを弾く。
Play simple chords, simple lines.

４）アンプに通す。
Play though an amp!

５）ゆっくり弾く。
Play it slow!

などです。またファンクのリズムの前にスウイングのリズムをRt３７で弾く事を勧めます。なぜか？スウイングのリズムを練習するとダウンビートとアップビートのバランスが良くなります。（僕の演奏能力開発エクササイズDVD１）なのでファンクの１６thをいきなりやるのでは、基本的なことができてないので早い物をやってることになるので難しいです。上達もあんまり早く安定しないです。

Those points are important. I really recommend to practice swing groove with Root 3rd 7th voicings. Why? If you practice swing rhythm guitar, you can make a nice balance between down stroke & up stroke. (See my AYGP dvd's EX19 etc....) So you shouldnot do practice 16th beats right away, because you need to build your solid foundation first before you practice anything fast & tricky to play. That's why you can't improve anything if you go so fast!

弾く内容。シンプルにここでは、RtM３b７の３音中心で、他の弦は、ミュートします、この場合、E7なのでオープンも弾けます。このコードが中心でベースラインが、５弦、７フレット、４フレット、５フレットなど弾けます。また６弦のオープン、３フレット、５フレットも弾けます。

Playing parts here.... basically you play Root 3rd 7th voicing mainly and mute other strings/notes. This case, it's E7 so you can ring open E string (6th string). Use this chord and you can play basic bass line ...5th string, 7th, 4th, and 5th fret. And you can play 3rd fret, 5th fret on 6th string etc.

少し早い３連のフレーズを弾きますが、これは３連をしっかりまず弾けないとこのようにできないです。この辺りある程度基本がなれるまで待った方が良いです。基本的には、右手大きく振る事が凄く大事です。しっかり音が出ること、そしてしっかり音がミュートできること。リズム的には、ベースラインとドラムのグルーヴを意識した感じです。
ゆっくりこのパターンをがんばって練習しましょう。

Many people asked me about that fast triplet. I have been doing that since I was 17 or 18. Basically it's a bit fast triplet. First, you need to be able to play "triplet" very clearly then when you play that triple, you can drag it toward end... it's really tricky thing. For groove, you want to feel about bass line & drum groove. So let's practice this groove slowly.

秦基博さんの「あそぶおとな」をカバーさせていただきました。
この曲は5thアルバム「青の光景」に収録されています。

ベース音の遷移がとってもカッコいい曲ですが、サビ部分、特に、早いコードチェンジとDm7(onC)（6弦8フレットを小指で押す必要有り💦）がちょっと難しいポイントだと思います。
初心者の方はスロー再生にして（テンポを下げて）練習されることをお勧めします。
あと、随所でF(onG)やBbadd9が食い気味で入りますが、曲の疾走感を醸し出すのに必要な弾き方だと思います。
この部分はアップストロークで弾く形になりますので、意識して弾いてみてください。

I did a cover of Motohiro Hata's "Asobu otona (Playing adult)".
This song is included in 5th album "Ao no koukei (The scene of blue)".

The base tone transition of this song is so cool.
However, I think that the hook part, especially fast changing chords and "Dm7(onC)" (which have to press the 6th string at the 8th fret by little finger💦), is bit difficult point.
For beginner player, I recommend that you set to a slow playback mode (i.e. slowdown the tempo) and then practice this part.
And then, there is anticipation which is "F(onG)" or "Bbadd9" and so on everywhere.
I think that these anticipations is necessary for the feeling of speeding of melody.
This part is played up-stroke, so please try to play consciously.

Although my unskilled cover, I hope this video will help for your guitar cover.
