亨利·托馬西 ＜敘事曲＞給薩氏管和管弦樂團或鋼琴

亨利・托馬西(Henri Tomasi)，生於1901年(1901-1971)，為法國著名作曲家及指揮家。他於1921年進入巴黎音樂院就讀，並向著名長笛作曲家 Philippe Gaubert、Vincent d’Indy及Paul Vidal學習作曲，並在1927 年獲得羅馬大獎。
在1930年代，他與幾位重要作曲家（如普羅高菲夫、米堯、普朗克等)在巴黎共同組成一個名為Triton的現代音樂組織。他們的創作受到拉威爾、德布西的影響，而他也曾為長笛、單簧管、小號、長號等創作許多協奏曲。
此曲原為薩氏管和管絃樂團的敘事曲，由作曲家亨利•托馬西於1939年所作，最初的構思是為管樂團所設計，但卻立刻被作曲家本人改編為管絃樂團版本，而現在為您演奏的為薩氏管與鋼琴的版本。

本曲擁有單樂章協奏曲的長度，題材取自十四世紀的吟遊詩人的敘事歌，因受地方音樂影響，而擁有不同的音樂風格、涵蓋了不一樣的特色，包括：憂傷抒情小行板、活潑的吉格舞曲與憂鬱的藍調，讓曲子的色彩更豐盛。
這首曲子所強烈散發的浪漫特性，為亨利•托馬西先生所慣用的曲風，而原作中還附有詩人Suzanne Malard因聆聽動人樂聲而激發靈感所作之簡短法文詩句，正好為本曲下了最完美的註解：
On an old English theme, long, thin and phlegmatic like him.
A clown tells his melancholy tale to the night.

這首詩的兩個關鍵詞――「喜悅和悲傷」，即是此曲發展的重要關鍵因素，而薩氏管的多元變化恰好能詮釋詩篇中小丑多愁善感的喜怒哀樂。
