Thanks to @strikingjacqpot and @ohjackiebkk ! team for contributing these fantastic meals to the #MakeGoodWaste program with @foodforfightersth . Seriously, this ain’t no slap-together ‘Phat grapao’ (basil stir fry) to simply fill bellies, this meal is good enough for any authentic mid-range restaurant, looking to please well paying patrons. The Oh Jacki gang, made Nasi Lemak Chicken, a dish originating from Malay cuisine that consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf and Sambal (hot spicy red sauce) with garnishes like cucumber slices, small fried anchovies (ikan bilis), roasted peanuts, and hard-boiled or fried egg. The combination is just wild, and sometimes - dare I say it - a welcome relief from the household Thai food, as it combines elements of crunch, sweet, savory, spice and artomatics in a totally different way.

If anything, for those who have lived or visited Singapore or Malaysia, it really hits you in the ‘feels’. Gosh, I miss traveling. And although there are many many variations of this dish, Oh Jackie's version leans closer to the authentic but with special touches. That batter! It will make you weep inside with happiness. It's so good. Fluffy and light, but crispy and robust, unlike the Thai fried chicken, which is also addictive but the crispy skin is denser and deeply saturated with oil. The Jacki O version texture feels closer to a tempera. Then there’s the Sambal, Ok, so I’m no expert in that department but there is a great amount of depth and flavour in one tiny lick. It’s concentrated love. Yes! We loved it that much, like coming “home” to a place which is not our home. You’ll probably love it too, so why not give it a try. This place shines like a gem sitting in Kaset Nawamin area folks! Falls in Love Coffee-Bar & Restaurant is a family owned restaurant, serving good food like you would serve to family members. With a massive menu ranging from impressive single-portion Thai-Chinese comfort food to good quality Charolais steaks, splendid drink selections, and a remarkable ambience with a waterfall with greeneries that could make you forget you’re in Bangkok, this is a perfect place to dine and have a good time with the family, friends, or an easy date night. I was impressed by the dishes here, never tried a char-grilled oyster blade steak this tender before. Thai foods were also really nice and hearty (and huge in portion), we especially love the fried rice noodles with gravy; so succulent and contains nice smoky flavors. The place also has big karaoke rooms, and facilities to hold a party for up to 300 pax. Parking is rich in quantity. A strong recommendation from me for those who’s looking for a place to hang out in Kaset Nawamin.

In this episode, we headed down to The Goodburger at Coronation Plaza to beat an Undefeated 20 x 20 Impossible Burger Challenge! The Goodburger is a food truck that serves up Impossible patty burgers and vegetarian sides like nuggets and fries. Food trucks are already uncommon in Singapore, but one that serves plant-based meat and has an entirely vegetarian menu is particularly unique. They even offer vegan options for their burgers. Completing the challenge within 20 minutes makes the food free, but failure means you have to pay upwards of $100 for the meal. Goodburger has made this an official challenge for the public, so please come down to beat my timing and get a free meal to boot.

For this challenge, all 4 of the burgers that Goodburger offers were carefully skewered into a gigantic tower with each burger supercharged with 5 patties, making it a 20-patty burger. On top of that, onion rings, fries, churros and nuggets were piled around the tower, forming a formidable challenge.

The Impossible burgers were excellent, with the Classic being a standard cheeseburger, Black Tie having truffle aioli and rocket leaves, Happy Days with onion rings and BBQ sauce, and One Night in Bangkok being Thai-inspired with a lemongrass-galangal flavoured sauce. The burgers were indistinguishable from your standard beef burgers in sight, flavour and texture, with the centre of the patties still being pink. I am hard-pressed to think of a beef burger at the same price range that I would consider superior to Goodburger’s burgers. What really brought together the burgers were the special sauces used for each type which elevated the Impossible patties greatly and gave each burger a distinct character.

The sides were decent. I originally thought the nuggets contained meat, but to my surprise it was entirely vegetarian. The onion rings and fries were crisp and well-seasoned although they needed a dipping sauce that I was not offered. The churros had the signature cinnamon-sweet flavour to them that was not overly strong and were appropriately crispy on the outside while chewy in the middle.

I completed the challenge in the nick of time at just under 20 minutes. It was not as easy as I thought it would be and I was also enjoying the challenge a bit too much. The “meat” is entirely plant based and the authentic red beef colour comes from an identical chemical extracted from soy plants. According to Impossible Foods, this alternative uses 95% less land and 85% less water than the equivalent beef production, while still not comprising on taste. Head down to The Goodburger for excellent guilt-free burgers!
