“不患寡而患不均” -- 論語，季氏

2014年讀了Thomas Piketty (托瑪．皮凱提) 的大作 “二十一世紀的資本論” （Capital in the twenty first century) 覺得似乎說明了很多現在奇怪的現象。這世界一方面看到許多的不足，同時又看到無比的浪費。一方面說是 “一分耕耘一分收穫”，卻又看到一些殷勤的人永無翻身機會，有些人怎麼花錢都還是看見資產不斷增加。過去雖然知道資本主義不完美，卻也是目前最好的了。但在世界越加豐盛卻也越來越不平均的現在，我真的會想要了解還有什麼可能，現在我們認識的資本主義，是否可能進化或是改革成為一個更好的版本？

作者在今年二月出了一本新書 “Capital and Ideology" (我就暫時翻為 “資本與意識形態”），從歷史，政治，和眾人意識形態來探討這個問題。當時我就手刀立刻買了台灣最早的一批。面對這1000+多頁的書，除了心理準備，我也先讀了這本比較短的 “ The Economics of Inequality" (貧富不均的經濟學）。這本薄薄的書，比較像是他基本的理論基礎，主要在討論，資本和人力分配間的不平均 （資本家與一般勞工之間），以及勞動收入間的不平均 （前 10% 與最後 10%收入的差異）。當中討論到許多面向，政府用什麼樣的稅收名義才能鼓勵資本家投入但不透過減少僱用人而變相傷害勞工？工會介入和政府提高基本工資是好的手段嗎？調高富者所得稅，還是用政府力量介入關鍵人力投資的平均分配 （如免費的國民義務教育，以及全民健康保險）。

面對1000+多頁的這一本，我想要回答自己這三個問題：

1. 大部分人都有公平正義的概念，為什麼社會還是有許多無法反應這個想法的制度？

2. 就算我們有好的重新分配機制，針對資本與勞力見，或是勞工之間。但如果把AI (人工智慧）加入考量，會有什麼樣的變化？畢竟電腦的邊際成本趨近零，也不用吃飯不會喊累。

3. 貧富不均是大家的問題，不該是人際或國際之間的零和遊戲，有什麼樣的可能突破現行資本主義來改善這個問題？

你會相信嗎？

我想大多數的人都不會，但是，這是我們現在都共同面對的每天新日常。不管你身在何處，新型冠狀病毒蔓延全球，每一個人的生活和工作都在遭受巨大的變化。

中國大陸累計超過8萬人確診，死亡人數超過3千；義大利逼近6萬人確診，死亡人數破5千，美國和整個歐洲成了重災區，全球有10億人居家隔離。

在疫情爆發之前，對於第三次世界大戰有很多預測，台海危機也曾經被當成是導火線的可能性之一，但是大家都沒有想到，這次的疫情在全球擴散，我們的敵人不是不同國家的人，而是看不見的病毒，有很多人用第三次世界大戰來形容這次的病毒危機 -- 147國淪陷、確診超過32萬、死亡破1.3萬、40多國封閉邊境，全球進入大鎖國時代，此次抗疫戰爭不知何時落幕，而最讓人擔憂的是，可能，最糟糕的情況還沒來。

#疫情變職場危機
最近好幾個粉絲和我分享，他們目前遇到沒有預期的職場危機。有一個在南韓濟州島工作的女生，因為一個有發展前景以及晉升的工作機會，雖然薪水沒有很大的漲幅，但是她決定回到台灣發展，但沒想到，回來不到半年，就被資遣了。目前她面臨失業、心情調整、再度準備找工作、台灣薪資平均達不到預期、疫情影響職場…等綜合問題，形勢嚴峻，讓她非常灰心。

#疫情變失業潮
因為疫情，全球的經濟動蕩不安，也因為疫情，可能會掀起多國失業潮。根據聯合國國際勞工組織的預估，疫情可能會造成全球大約530萬至2470萬人失去工作（此數據是按照2019年底全球1.88億失業人數作為基數去推算的）。失業人口的增加，同時也代表勞工人口的收入大幅減少。據報告推測，全球民眾的收入會在2020年底前蒸發大約8600億至3.4萬億美元，這同也會導致消費減少，為眾多產業帶來負面影響。

#危機下的轉機 #雲端會議軟體行業正夯
看到這些數字是不是讓人非常沮喪，就想要直接爬進棉被裏，倒頭大睡，不管外面發生的事情，這樣做，暫時性地可以讓你忘記煩惱，但是等到醒了，還是要面對現實。老話說危機就是轉機，即便是疫情肆虐，一家店接著一家的關門大吉，一波接著一波的人員失業，有些行業和公司正在經歷著轉機和大幅成長。

Zoom雲端會議軟體公司股價累計已漲58.52%，創辦人袁征的身家也跟著飆升了57%/20億美元（約604.4億元台幣），達到56億美元（約1692.32億元台幣）。因為隨著疫情蔓延，辦公室關閉、交通中斷發、國際交流大多數轉為線上、各種會面紛紛取消，各行各業對Zoom雲端會議軟體需求激增，辦公室會議、商業會議、大學授課…等，都開始轉向線上視訊。很多其他類似公司，例如Skype, Webex, 也在經歷同樣的大幅成長。

至於Joyce對於目前澳洲政府如何面對新型冠狀病毒疫情的觀察，這是昨天寫的英文文章：

✅No people, no virus.
✅Less contact, less chance of getting the virus.

⭕️We have to find a way to continue our lives as normal as possible, but with extreme precautions of course.

❗️CODIV-19 is getting out of control globally. To be honest, I really want to go back to my home island, Taiwan at the moment. I think a lot of my relatives in the UK and the US share the same feeling. Unfortunately, we don’t see that leaders of Australia, UK and US tackling this crisis with swift and accurate measures. Taiwan suffered from the SARS crisis back in 2003 and it had forced the island to create better defense system and immediate response mechanism towards outbreak of viruses.

❗️Taiwan has over 23 million people (similar to Australia. The population in Australia is about 24 million.) and it’s a very densely populated place. Geographically, we are very close to mainland China and because of this, a lot of people, including health professionals predicted that Taiwan would soon fall to COVID-19 and it would be very difficult to control it. But so far, the COVID-19 confirmed cases are 153 in Taiwan. Comparing to most European countries, America and Australia, COVID-19 is under control in Taiwan. And strict measures have been taking place continuously to ensure that it stays under control.

🚫So don’t tell me that wearing masks are not working; don’t tell me that working from home and closing schools & non-essential places are not working; don’t tell me about group immunity to an unknown virus when there are patients getting re-infected; don’t tell me that COVID-19 only attacks old people while there are over 50% of server cases that are under the age of 60 in ICU in a hospital in Italy; don’t tell me that COVID-19 doesn’t effect young people as there are 19 year-olds getting infected in Australia, China and South Korea. Some of them are also classified as server cases. In New York, there more than 10,000 confirm cases and 54% of them are young people between the age of 18-49; don’t tell me to get prepared to lose my loved ones while we witness some countries and regions are getting this crisis under control.

⭕️We can control this crisis by religiously practicing social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, using hand sanitizer, monitoring our own temperature, stopping travels...the list goes on and these measures they do work. It really angers me to see that 4 cruise ships were given special permission to dock in Australia despite the 30-day coronavirus ban. And people are still heading to the beach in large numbers. Viruses do not count to 100 or 500 before they infect people. They don’t wait for 48 hours for the emergency rules to be effective. The only math they know is to multiply as quickly as they can. We all have the responsibility to carry out the measures that are effective to control this crisis. With no exceptions!

⭕️Time to learn from some more successful cases in dealing with COVID-19 - Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan...even China as it has managed to control it. We are also seeing slowing down in new cases in South Korea. And Australia’s neighbor - New Zealand is doing a great job in stopping the virus from spreading. The confirmed cases are still under 60. It’s not a time to urge or debate on which political ideology is better than others. It’s not a time to calculate certain parties’ business or political interests. It’s definitely wrong to blame Chinese or Asians for this virus. Viruses do not care if you are white, black, yellow, communist, socialist, capitalist or otherwise.

😂Something to laugh about in this crisis atmosphere - Shoppers in the Netherlands are panic buying weed. Toilet paper? Who cares! Meat? Don’t need it! Talking about priorities in different countries!

【外國月亮不是特別圓】

投入國際連結工作好一段時間，有時覺得大家也會期望「外國月亮總是特別圓」，但其實西方國家政治人物支持香港，從來不是理所當然，當中亦會涉及不少商業利益考慮和國際壓力，以及部份左傾政客仍會不知何故地，對中國共產政權抱有良好幻想，這種情況在歐洲較為明顯。

德國左翼黨的國會議員，竟在國會發言表示「理應支持我們在北京的共產朋友」固然讓人大跌眼鏡，尤其是中共從根本地就是循從威權主義和國家資本主義的極右政黨。

有時對於國際政客不理解香港，也是有點無奈，但我們香港作為國際大都會，對於世界各國的抗爭運動，又何嘗不是缺乏足夠理解，只盼在抗爭持續的情況下，香港人能夠繼續努力，讓世界理解我們，與香港同行。

早前睇一份德國國會內嘅辦論，有位Die Linke嘅議員話要支持中共，因為大家都是左翼共產主義支持者，不用分得那麼細。我見內容有所偏頗就寫左篇文。中文翻譯見下文。
Recently, a MP from Die Linke made some remarks about HK, and say they should support CCP as they are friend of Coummunism. I find the claims rather inaccurate hence I wrote this article to provide some rebuttals. Please scroll down for the English translation.

近日德國國會內, 一位Die Linke的國會議員Stefan Liebich對香港的事作出評價，這些評價實在令人難以茍同。

Liebich指「Die Linke理應支持我們在北京的共產朋友」。但中國共產黨除了名字內有「共產」兩個字外，其實際行動與共產理念差天共地，實在不是Liebich想像中共產主義的好朋友。

中國共產黨是一個極權，除了擴張政治與經濟勢力外，中國共產黨什麼都不會理會。不論是無產階級的死活，或者是工人階級，對於中國共產黨來說只是擴張實力的工具，隨時可以為了經濟或政治利益犧牲或捨棄。 中國共產黨實質上是由一群搜刮民脂民膏致富而滿肚腸肥的黨員領導。中國共產黨甚至對自己的人民進行全天候的監控，打壓、拘捕異見人士。

由此可見，中國共產黨本質上是一個極右政黨，而非Liebich以為的左翼。 北京政府不是以共產理念管治中華人民共和國，反而是以物質主義操縱國民。中國背後並沒有一套穩固的價值觀支撐，唯有金錢才是中國人和中國政府信仰的理念。中國的任何行動，從來都不是由價值推動，而總是由金錢和利益推動。

中國共產黨只是一個「掛羊頭賣狗肉」的「共產」黨，它相當擅長扮演共產主義的支持者，與Liebeich想像中「馬克思主義的的同路人」相差甚遠。我們應該要小心分辨真正的共產主義者與打著共產主義旗號行惡的政權之間的分別。

Leibich亦在發言時提到八國聯軍與相關歷史，指「香港被英國以軍事手段從中國手中搶去。撇除對於中國的批評，我們樂見不公義的殖民主義完結」。但現實上，清朝是被當時被視為外族的滿洲人統治。當時的「中國」與今天我們認知的中華人民共和國並不是同一個國家。所以，Leibich所指的「香港被英國不公義的殖民」，其實嚴格來說是鴉片戰爭後，香港的管治權從滿洲人手中交到英國人手中。

清朝末期發生申亥革命，中華民國成立。及後因國共內戰，中華民國政府輾轉於1949年12月撤退至臺灣。如果按照Leibich的邏輯，香港主權理應是移交予中華民國政府，而非中華人民共和國。

另外，香港人本來擁有聯合國1960年在《給予殖民地國家和人民獨立宣言》中賦予非自治領土人民自決前途的權利。但因為中國強烈反對港澳被定義為殖民地，而應為「被英國和葡萄牙當局佔領的中國領土的一部分」。中國代表單方面宣稱港澳的地位，都屬中國主權範圍內，甚至指：「聯合國並沒有權討論這些問題。」最後才令香港再名單中被除名，失去前途自決的權利。

而觀乎而今情況，即使香港主權移交予中國後，不公義不但沒有消失，反而更加明顯與嚴重。Leibeich在發言時指「撇除對於中國的批評，我們樂見不公義的殖民主義完結」，我很希望，他不是指他將無視數以百萬計的少數民族關押在在教育營當中、六四屠城死去的學生、香港早前被實彈近距離射中的兩位男孩、被24小時監控的中國人、捨生取義爭取人權的香港人，而去支持中國共產黨只因其聲稱自己是「共產主義者」。

人權自由是人類文明近百年來的基石，中國共產黨的行為，與絕大部分我們珍視的政治價值並不相容。在任何情況下，我們都不可能支持一個獨裁的殺人政權。

Recently, in the German Bundestag, Stefan Liebich made a few remarks regarding Hong Kong. Mr. Liebeich says his party Der Linke should support their communist friends in Beijing. “Logisch, dass Der Linke Liebich seinen Kommunistenfreunden in Peking wieder den Rücken stärkt.(It is logical that Die Linke Liebich should again support his communist friends in Beijing.)” In my point of view, the Chinese Communist Party is just a party named itself as the “Communist”, what it does in China or in the world is in no way communistic.

PRC is a dictatorship that only takes the expansion of its economic and political power into regard, workers or its people are at its disposal whenever it sees fit. The “Communist” party cares neither about the people, nor the grassroots, it only cares about the economic benefit it gains from its business activities inside and outside PRC. The party leaders are all sitting in their offices with their pockets full of what they gain from exploiting the Chinese workers.
They carry mass surveillance 24/7 throughout China, arrests and detain descendants. Frankly speaking, the CCP is rather right than left.

The Peking Government is not running Communism, but materialism. The only thing the Chinese and the Chinese government worship is the dollar sign, nothing else. They do not take any values or ideology into account. The people are not motivated by values or beliefs, but by the economic benefits they see.

The CCP is not a communist party as Mr. Leibich conceived it is. The CCP is very good at creating the illusion that it represents the Marxist ideas. We should be very careful in examining the differences between those who claim to be communists and those who are communists.

Mr. Leibich also made reference to the history of the Eight-Nation Alliance in the late Qing Dynasty, saying that“ Auch Hongkong ist durch die britische Armee militärisch China abgepresst worden.(Hong Kong has been militarily squeezed out of China by the British army.)” and “Bei aller notwendigen Kritik an der chinesischen KP sagen ich: Es ist gut, dass dieses koloniale Unrecht zu Ende ist. (Despite all the necessary criticism of the Chinese Communist Party, I say: It is good that this colonial injustice has come to an end.)”

It is worth clarifying that during that time of History, China was ruled by the Manchus, who were considered as foreigners at the time. China at the time was not the Republic of China we know today. Therefore, Hong Kong was not military squeezed out of PRC but was being colonized by the British in substitution of the Manchus at that time.

Historically speaking, the successor of the Qing Dynasty is the Republic of China, which later was relocated to Taiwan due to the Civil War between 1927 and 1949. And Mr. Leibich’s claim that it is good that colonial injustice has come to an end is inaccurate, too. In this case, Hong Kong, ought to be returned to Taiwan (the Republic of China) but not China (People’s Republic of China), to end the colonial injustice.

What is more, Hong Kongers were supposed to be able to exercise our right to self-determination and really being able to be free from colonialism. Yet Hong Kong was actually removed from the U.N. list of Non-Self-Governing Territories upon PRC’s request.

And clearly, under PRC’s rule, injustice is more than just apparent in Hong Kong currently. Mr. Leibich’s remarks of “despite all the necessary criticism of the Chinese Communist Party”, I truly hope that he is not suggesting that one would neglect the millions of ethnic minorities being detained in re-education camps, those who died in the JuneForth Masaccare, the two young Hong Kong boys who were shot by live rounds, the Chinese who were placed under surveillance 24/7 and all my fellow Hong Konger who are fighting for fundamental rights with their lives, but support the CCP’s action because it claims to be a communist party.

I see of no reason, why anyone should support a dictatorship that would brutally murder its own people. CCP is totally going against what most political ideologies in the world stand for, and I do believe we can all agree on the fundamental rights of all members of the human family that ought to be respected as that is the foundations of human civilization.

即使如此，這張專輯並沒有流於自我重複的說教，而是透過自己在美國成長過程親眼目睹的（台灣媒體跟好萊塢電影不告訴你的）具體事實，鍾翔宇戳破所謂的「美國夢」，一層一層爬梳嘻哈音樂如何失去最初的反抗精神、分析爭取勞動權益的困境甚至環保議題。很難想像這麼龐大的知識量被鍾翔宇精巧的放在一張不到 20 分鐘的專輯當中，這樣大膽的嘗試絕對值得你靜下心搭配歌詞細細玩味。搭配 Ransom-Notes 充滿黃金年代風格的編曲，讓嚴肅的歌詞不再難以下嚥。而鍾翔宇精心設計的多韻和不時的好笑 punchline，也展現他想讓歌曲直面普羅大眾的誠意。

批判美國的霸權和當今的社會經濟制度等於動搖了非常多人的基本信念，鍾翔宇也深知這一點。然而看到不公不義的事實而站出來發聲，這是讓鍾翔宇之所以愛上嘻哈的浪漫初衷。《星星之火》這張專輯就如同他的偶像，英國嘻哈詩人 Lowkey 的 “Soundtrack to the Struggle” 一樣，是貨真價實的革命之聲，所有真心想衝破世界當今所面對的困境的人，肯定能從鍾翔宇的音樂中得到啟發。


Shortly after his 2018 album "Bombard the Headquarters" was nominated best hip hop album by the Golden Indie Music Awards, Xiangyu, one of the few openly communist rappers in the Sinosphere, together with his comrade Ransom-Notes from the UK, began working on "a Single Spark." In comparison to his previous album, which contains comedic songs like "Paolyta B" and "the Idol's Handbook," "a Single Spark" takes on a more serious tone and delves deeper into Xiangyu's ideology.

Despite the comparatively somber tone, this new album avoids repetitive preaching. Through sharing his personal experiences and the things he saw growing up in the United States, Xiangyu debunks the so-called "American Dream." Using materialist dialectics, he tells us how hip hop has lost its rebellious essence, and also analyzes power dynamics and touches on topics such as the environment. It is difficult to imagine how Xiangyu and Ransom-Notes were able to condense such a vast expanse of knowledge into an album less than 20 minutes in length. You will not be disappointed should you decide to sit down and listen to such a bold album while studying the lyrics. Reminiscent of hip hop's golden age, Ransom-Notes' beatmaking provides the listener with the sugar that makes the pill easier to swallow. Xiangyu's carefully constructed rhymes and the occasional humorous punch line demonstrate his sincere attempt to make his agitprop more accessible to the layperson.

Criticizing US hegemony and the socioeconomic order of today is tantamount to shattering the fundamental beliefs of many, and Xiangyu is acutely aware of this. The fact that hip hop can serve as a platform for pointing out injustices is what attracted Xiangyu to the genre in the first place. "A Single Spark" is similar to "Soundtrack to the Struggle" by Lowkey, one of Xiangyu's influences, in the sense that it is truly revolutionary in content. Those who genuinely seek to transform the predicaments plaguing our world today will certainly find inspiration in Xiangyu's music.
