這是我第二次找 Topeak Taiwan合作. 還記得第一次, 是我連工具都不知道怎麼用就想踏上橫跨歐洲的自行車旅行. TOPEAK在每封寫給我的信裡, 都會像附上咒語一樣的寫著一句話: 小心安全, 活著回來最重要.
也許這句話很平凡, 但對當時的我很重要. 有時我腦袋瓜裡在追求某些難以計劃的事物時, 會漏掉一些重要的細節. 坦白說, 當時在計劃這種大規模的旅行時, 安全和活著似乎有是真的被我給遺忘掉了, 直到我踏上旅途的那瞬間, 才在恐懼感裡面尋找這兩個字眼.
那這次我為了這場橫跨歐洲的自行車賽, 又來找TOPEAK麻煩時, 他們最喜歡問我: “告訴我, 你需要什麼幫忙.”
其實這個問題常常問倒我, 有時懶惰散漫的心會養成一個依賴的心態: 唉呦! 你就給我你們最好的裝備吧!!” 類似這種要不得的心態. 這個問題得逼著我一遍又一遍的去思考我的路徑, 把有可能會發生的狀況模擬很多次, 找出可能會發生的問題, 才知道自己會用到什麼, 會需要什麼. 最後我才能整理成一個系統, 告訴他我需要他們幫我什麼.
這跟平時喜歡畫大餅的我, 思考結構很不同. 通常我的模式是這樣的: 好, 我只要有兩個輪子就可以出發, 然後和路人做朋友, 在荒野裡浪漫的搭帳篷睡覺, 然後不小心就經過了好多國家, 如果遇到問題到時候再想辦法解決就好了….
我知道這看起來很不OK, 但確實是我腦袋中常浮現的思考模式. ( 難怪魏先生常被我氣的七暈八素的) 不過我這位亦師亦友的夥伴, 讓我在畫大餅的同時, 也逼著我自己去好好想著細節, 準備好實際會面臨的挑戰.
Prepare to Ride 我會翻譯成: 準備好出發!
TOPEAK 給我的支持, 不只是裝備上的準備, 更是許多心理上的建設. 他們讓我學習注意細節和安全, 並且提醒自己身處在困難之中, 如果想要得到幫忙, 得自己先學會診斷出自己現在需要的是什麼.
我覺得, 廠商和使用者之間的互動, 真的是很密切的. 廠商推出的商品要實用, 但相對的使用丈也需要用心體會設計的本質和用意, 才能發揮到產品最大的效用. 謝謝TOPEAK 讓我體驗和參與這麼美妙的事情 :)

This is my second collaboration with TOPEAK. The first time I even don’t know how to use tools but already planed to ride a bike across Europe and Asia. I got every E-mail from TOPEAK, they always wrote a sentence as a incantation: save ride, and save home.
Perhaps this sentence is very ordinary, but then very important to me. Sometimes my brain is full of dreams and plans, forgot something important, for example like “save” and “alive”. Until I face the road and fear, I just realized I didn’t prepare well.
And now I am going to the race across Europe, I go to asking TOPEAK again. This time they ask me: “Tell me, what can I do for you?“
In fact, my laziness made me can’t answer this simple question. There is the sentence always come to my mind: Oh come on, just give to me what you got the best!
But this question made me over and over to thank and plan of my race. Think through what the problems I will face to and what I have to prepare for it.
This thinking way actually is very different from my usual way. This is normal what I plan for a trip: Well, I only need 2 wheels and take me go through, then made friendship on the road, and just pass many counties by the path. If I encounter problems, then just to find out a solution…
I know this looks not very OK, but it’s the normal system to plan the trip in my head. (well, that’s why Kamil always angry about it)
But because this question, made me plan more details, and think more solutions before I get the trouble.
Prepare to Ride. It’s like “ready to go!” for me. I am ready, almost… :D
