This is a crucial objective, especially as an introduction to children and viewers largely relying on television for their scientific information.

Rather than promoting science and scientifically-proven methodology, Dog: Impossible sacrifices learning science for more dramatic television.

Matt Beisner appears to have no credentials or education in training and behavior, yet he refers to himself as a behaviorist. His claim that “energy is the one language that every animal on the planet speaks” makes clear he is not one.

Throughout the trailer dogs are flooded with aversive stimuli such as other dogs, people and equipment, something an ethical professional would not, and could not do per any answerable guidelines of animal training and behavior care.

The dogs end up in a fight. They have been set up to fail, and the outcome is inevitable.

In the trailer, the assistant host, Stefanie DiOrio, states, “Nervousness can easily turn to fear which can lead to aggression.” This is an accurate statement, which is why it’s so confusing that the entire show would be predicated on pushing dogs to the very edge of survivable stress and into predictable aggression, doubling down on the issues that their owners are struggling with.

To an average pet owner it looks like these dogs are making huge improvements. All clients just want their dog to “Stop being aggressive.” However, we also know that behavior suppression is not the same as behavior modification, that a stressed and shut-down dog is a more dangerous animal than one who is actively showing aggression, and that the long-term prognosis of this kind of intervention is poor for both the client and their dog.

This dog is at the point of collapse. This dog is being tortured, and that is not hysteria. That is an assessment by any educated measure.

Matsutake Gohan (pine mushroom rice) is a very simple rice dish to enjoy the flavor of Matsutake mushrooms!

I saw on TV that you can create the Matsutake flavor by cooking Eryngii (royal trumpet) mushrooms and unshelled Edamame together since Eryngii mushrooms have the same texture as Matsutake and Edamame pods have the same flavor component as Matsutake. Very scientific logic. haha

It went viral in Japan, so I tried it out. Yes, it becomes a very dainty Matsutake rice dish. Try out and see how you like it ;)

Mock Matsutake Gohan (Pine Mushroom Rice)

Difficulty: Super Easy
Time: 1hr
Number of servings: 4

Ingredients:
3 cups uncooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
100g (3.5oz.) Eryngii (royal trumpet) mushrooms
100g (3.5oz.) unshelled Edamame *fresh ones
Dashi Broth
* 600ml water
* 10cm/4inch-square Konbu (kelp)
Seasonings
* 1 tbsp. Sake
* 1.5 tbsp. soy sauce
* a pinch of salt

Directions:
1. Wash rice and leave for about 30 minutes. If you are using pre-washed rice (musenmai) you don't have to wash it.
2. Clean Konbu with moistened towel. Soak in 600ml water for 30 minutes.
3. Slice Eryngii mushrooms. Rub the Edamame bean pods with 1 tsp. of salt to remove the surface fuzz and wash.
4. Place the rice in a pot, add Kombu Dashi (2) and the seasonings, then mix well. Place the Eryngii mushrooms and Edamame on top of the rice.
5. Place the pot into the rice cooker. Cover and press the button to start.
6. When it's done, remove Edamame (you can eat them as an appetizer), toss the rice lightly using a rice paddle, then serve.

Garnish with chopped Mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley) if you like.

Daikon Meshi (radish rice) is basic and popular Japanese home-cooked meal. It is usually flavored with dashi broth and soy sauce but I added curry powder to make it more tasty and delicious!!!

Curry Daikon Meshi

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10min + rice cooking time
Number of servings: 4

Necessary Equipment:
suihanki (Japanese rice cooker)

Ingredients:
2 cups uncooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
200g (7.0oz.) Daikon (Japanese radish)
1 Aburaage (fried tofu)
120cc Yamaki Mentsuyu (2 times concentrated soy sauce based broth)*
2 tsp. curry powder
400cc water*
cooking oil
parsley flakes (or chopped Mitsuba leaf (Japanese wild parsley) or chopped Daikon leaf)

Directions:
1. Wash rice and drain well. Immerse Aburaage (fried tofu) in hot water, drain and wrap in paper towel to remove any excess oil and water, then cut into thin strips. Cut Daikon into sticks (about 2-inch-long is better because it can break easily when cooked).
2. Heat cooking oil in a deep pot and lightly stir-fry Daikon and Aburaage (fried tofu) . Then season with Yamaki Mentsuyu and curry powder. Add rice and mix well.
3. Place the seasoned rice and 400cc water in a Japanese rice cooker, close, and press start to cook.
4. When it's done, do not open and let it steam for about 10 minutes.
5. Open, mix well, and serve. Sprinkle parsley flakes if available.

* You can substitute Yamaki Mentsuyu with: 2tbsp. soy sauce, 2tbsp. sake. 2tsp. sugar. And add 400cc dashi broth instead of water.
