Today was the first day of PSLE.
I thought I did quite a good job by waking the big girl up, making her French Toast, braiding her hair and writing her a letter of encouragement - with her favourite Sumikko Gurashi design - to wish her all the best.
But this girl, she touches me in ways I never expect and brings joy through the little things she does. Not only does she make life happier for me, she is also my motivation to be a better, braver and stronger mum.
This afternoon, after enduring an over 4-hour wait in school due to a technical glitch during her oral exam and only having a bun and biscuit between 7am to 230pm, she came back home on her own, hungry but not whiny. I served her a big bowl of herbal chicken soup with mee sua which she ate heartily before taking a rest.
In the evening, she helped me to take care of the baby and after dinner, we watched a couple of hours of TV to relax, including AGT and Just for Laughs Gags, because I do think it's more important for her to feel happy than stressed at this point.
Before she went to bed, she wrote this sweet thank you letter for me which I totally didn't see coming and it totally melted my heart. Ironically, it's day 1 of her major exam yet she cheered and lifted me up more than what I did for her. Awwww. And I think I needed this.
Love you so much, my dear Angel. No matter what happens, you know I will always, always be proud of you. Thank you for being you.

P.S. She also dropped her molar, which is her 18th tooth, tonight too. Yup, only two more milk teeth to go and her last few visits from Tooth Fairy. This girl is growing up so fast and it's a bittersweet feeling but I am embracing every moment of seeing her mature into a fine young lady.

13 years since we walked down the aisle into happily ever after.
Our wedding was themed "A Fairytale Love", you were the Prince, I was the Princess and we were gonna have a happy family with lots of happiness and happy kids and happy every day. Well, we even wrote a song titled "我们的童话" and sang it at our second march in.
Yup, I was, and probably still am, a hopeless romantic and liked to dream of all things beautiful and maybe even a tad surreal. After having four kids and going through more than a dozen years of marriage, it's safe to conclude that some days will be tougher than the rest. The ups and downs will always be there, so will the tears and laughter.
Happily ever after doesn't mean we will never argue or disagree but it means we learn to respect each other's opinions. It doesn't mean we bring down but instead lift each other and be the strongest pillar of all. It doesn't mean we give up easily or stop seeing the good in each other because like what you said "We chose each other for a reason. A reason we should never forget."
So yeah, thanks for being my other half and for seeing something good in me. We do have a happy family, happy kids and happy days and I am living my dream. Happy 13 years!

I used to be very strict on our kids eating sugary foods ...
When Bella was born at 3.6kg we were strict with her with no sweet drinks .
Until now she never like sweet drinks , ice cream or even chocolates . Only plain water ...
Tasha was born a tiny baby .
We felt it was okay for her to consume sweetened food but with limits . But am glad she's not sweet toothed either .
Adam & Noah are super active kids and we feel its okay to eat sweetened food but within limits.
My point - It's really upto us parents to decide what food our kids eat.
If we start our kids with sweetened drinks from an early age, surely they will forego milk and only eat sugary foods.
' You are what you eat ' - I always say ...
Its okay to be a chubby baby at 0-3 years old . They will soon shed their baby fats once they start walking and running about.
But if they are 4 years old and seeing them overweight and obese , drastic action need to be taken.
Stop sweetened drinks totally
Start outdoor activities or Sports
Take them to the park often
Lead an active life with your child
No chocolates or ice cream
Eat healthy food
Ideally its best to introduce all the above from birth.
Its all about habits and routine hoping they would continue doing so till they grow up.
The trend of obese Children are worrisome in our Country and I blame it on parents whom keep on feeding the child sebab ' sayang ' ,
unhealthy lifestyle or just lack of knowledge .
