Even though I have three year end babies, I decided that we won't combine their parties this year but instead, we will stick to simple, intimate gatherings for each of them.
To kickstart the birthday celebrations, we held a party today for the eldest where she invited five of her best pals from school. Yes, just five. It was a very manageable size for me and apart from feasting on goodies, we did activities including colouring, crafts, ball games, phototaking and a Win, Lose or Draw session at the end. The laughter was non-stop and every kid was kept entertained and happy throughout the 2-3 hours.
The birthday girl enjoyed it to the max and gave me a big, tight hug at the end and said "Thank you, Mama" even though I didn't put in as much effort as when I planned for the larger scale parties. Tomorrow, we will be having a steamboat at home with the family and have a nice, simple celebration and that will be it for her big day this year.
Yup, I guess this style fits us well and this is the way I would like to do it from now. Cosy parties with less people, less money spent, less stress but more play, more hands-on activities, more fun, more talk, more memories. Here's a family shot from today.
