Hello world! It’s been a long while, I’ve been real busy moving to a new city recently. Actually it’s a little town in China called Jing De Zhen, it’s known as the “Porcelain Capital” and it’s also where the name of “China” comes from(昌南=景德镇=China). The city has been producing the finest quality of ceramics in the worlds for over 1300 years. The mysterious and charm of this beautiful craft work of china, the enthusiastic people are the reason made me wanted to explore this utopia. I’m really excited to start my new page in this beautiful city 🤍 lemme share my amazing journey with you all! 😊

Yingge gets its name from a stone shaped like a warbler bird on the outskirts of town. Due to its location in the mountains, chances of rain are considerable- if this is the case, go spend some time indoors making ceramics! There is record of Hakka migrants operating tea plantations in Yingge District as well as Sanxia as early as the 17th century. Porcelain making began during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty as clay was discovered in the mountains nearby that was suitable for making kilns. Making due with local resources, pottery increasing became Yingge’s claim to fame and the town even became known as Taiwan’s Jingdezhen (a Chinese city famous for porcelain).

Last week I made a personal research trip to Jingdezhen, China - the world's 'porcelain capital' as it has been producing pottery for close to 2000 years. I wouldn't recommend visiting the city as a tourist unless you're truly interested in ceramics - it's a city packed with factories and ceramics shops, but understanding the processes behind the art and industry was definitely interesting. Apparently Ai Weiwei had his Sunflower Seeds piece created here alongside 1600 porcelain artisans.
