If you’ve never done a breast check, it’s not nearly as terrifying nor complex than you imagine it to be. Especially if you have mama boobs (.) ( . ) like mine, they’re a little lopsided, there’s not much left, but they belong to a mama and teeny tiny that needs her.

Step 1 : Check your glorious boobs in front of a mirror. You’re looking for any changes in color, size, shape, surface dimpling, rash, redness, soreness, change in nipples, or discharge. Do it with your arms up and down. Basically, does anything look different?

Fun fact: Even months and sometimes years after you’ve breast-fed, sometimes there still might be a little milk if you express it!!! Whaaat! You shouldn’t however, have any discharge come out if you’re not doing anything w it whether clear, milky, yellow or blood.

Step 2 : Lay down and using your palm or fingers, check your breasts all the way to under your armpits for lumps.

Step 3: THAT’S IT! Repeat every month, and if you have any questions or doubt or whatever silly thing you are embarrassed to bring up, remember how relentless you are when it’s your teeny tiny, you matter so much too. Early detection saves lives, mama. Just ask.

Ps. And while we’re at it, it’s not the most pleasant thing to do but schedule that pap smear too!

Sharing this little fun find in Ipoh again because a reader recently asked about it! ❤️❤️

If you ever find yourself in Ipoh looking for a quiet afternoon of fun, stop by 好啲 HOdi, an unassuming quaint little wooden shophouse in the old part of town.

We accidentally stumbled upon it while walking back to the car and was attracted at first by the strange looking pinball machines in the front. On further investigation, we learned it was a Taiwanese dessert place and the machines were these ball games that required both agility and patience!

The daddies took the machines on while the littles and mamas explored and to our delight, there was an oasis of treasures like "fishing" in the longkang, little traditional clogs to wear, a flowerpot the kids really really really enjoyed washing their hands in, a rope swing and a really fun upstairs where we spent the afternoon laughing and introducing (and trying to remember!!) the classics like congkak, carrom, pick-up-sticks, jenga and so much more!

It was exactly what we needed when we decided to take a little impromptu roadtrip out of the city. A chance for the littles to play, forget about the hustle and bustle and just spend time together.

And in true #kacaumama fashion, this post wouldn't be complete without telling you where you can get a snack with your little after. Just a few shops down the street, there is a traditional coffeeshop called Nam Heong Ipoh Old Town White Coffee, Ipoh that boasts the best white coffee in town still made the old school way (no 3-in-1 sachets here) along with the most delicious flaky yummy warm-from-the-oven egg tarts made fresh. Ella Grace even got to watch an apom balik craftsman in action, so much work and love put into these crispy little peanut parcels.

If you are up for a walk, check out the other shophouses in the vicinity. Traditional Chinese herb shops, Indian spice shops where things are sold by weight, pottery and knick-knacks, just old school rare finds if you're used to the large megamalls in KL.

We loved it so much we came back the both days we were in town, for both the coffee, the eggtarts, and the shophouse fun.

Every once in a while, it's nice to get lost, discover something new, and just make some precious memories I know my mama heart will remember for a long time.
