Its been awhile since we hit the usual tourist spots since we are trying our best to avoid the crowd but then again its inevitable because the whole world wants a piece of #Japan too 😂 If you think you can try to recreate your favourite instagrammer s pictures with absolute ZERO CROWD, good luck with waking up and heading out at 4-5am everyday 😌 Try to be realistic, enjoy your holiday and immerse yourself in the rich culture & view rather than worry about not be able to take instagram worthy pictures. All pictures are worthy memories 💖 Im still learning to do that myself, my no.1 rule for a picture is as long its NOT BLUR then its okay lol. It's been awhile since we hit the usual tourist spots since we are trying our best to avoid the crowd but then again it's inevitable because the whole world wants a piece of #Japan too 😂

If you think you can try to recreate your "favourite instagrammer" 's pictures with absolute ZERO CROWD, good luck with waking up and heading out at 4-5am everyday 😌
Try to be realistic, enjoy your holiday and immerse yourself in the rich culture & view rather than worry about not be able to take "instagram worthy" pictures.
All pictures are worthy memories 💖

I'm still learning to do that myself, my no.1 rule for a picture is as long it's NOT BLUR then it's okay lol. If it's all blur then it's a sign from the heavens that I shouldn't bother taking photos or I should get a better photography partner 😂

Spring at Myokenji Temple (Kyoto), oil on canvas, 18x20.8 inches

I went to Japan in 2005 for my second cherry-blossom painting trip. This time, I steered clear of tourist hot spots and made small side streets and temples my target. I was often rewarded by scenes quite out of the ordinary. The rear garden of Myokenji Temple was unearthly quiet. The temple attendant only came by once in a while to do some sweeping. The old tree was covered in beautiful cherry blossoms and its branches cast all kinds of shadows on the white walls and tiled roof. How can you not be enthralled by these flowers, this tree, and such a sight? For four hours I stood there under the eaves! When I put the finishing touch to the final cherry blossom, I had no regrets.

Amanohashidate sandbar is an off the beaten path place you can visit when travelling to Kyoto.
Kyoto is one of the top destinations people travel to when coming to Japan, however with more and more tourists coming in each year and going to the same tourist spots, it's hard to enjoy Kyoto without having to be surrounded by crowds.

So, if you are like me and you want to enjoy travelling away from the big crowds then try going to Amanohashidate in the northern part of Kyoto.

There are trains and direct buses departing from Kyoto and Osaka and the best part is you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Japanese countryside.

Kyoto is the number one travel destination in Japan, and because there are SO. MANY. things to see there it can be hard to figure out where to go. These are our three recommendations for first-time visitors: Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama (which is also where Tenryu-ji is), and Gion and the nearby street Shijo Dori + Yasaka shrine. Fushimi Inari Taisha is probably one of the more famous areas, but for us it was SO crowded that it was difficult to even get around. It kind of just made me feel sad because you could tell how incredibly beautiful and almost magical it would have been hundreds of years ago, but with the crowds today it was just about impossible to enjoy it. That's just my opinion, though, and many people love it anyway!

Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama, and the Gion general area are all extremely crowded, too (of course), but to me they were worth it despite that. And that's saying something because I can't stand crowded tourist spots!!

We also met the amazing singer Reika (of the group Juuichi) on Shijo Dori, and they very graciously allowed us to use their music!!
