(Powerful Protection Promises) I am currently teaching my daughter Mae about Psalm 91 every night. One verse at a time. At bedtime, she prefers to listen to the lesson instead of praying.

“I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”” (Psalms‬ ‭91:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Do you know what is the difference between “refuge” and “fortress”? Refuge is a place where you run to seek shelter after being ambushed. On the other hand, fortress is a place you station yourself in to mount an attack against incoming enemies from an advantageous position.

No matter whether you anticipate the devil’s attack or you were caught off guard, you can still make find timely protection when you turn to God in prayer.

“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.” (Psalms‬ ‭91:5-6‬ ‭WEB‬)

Terror by night and pestilence that walks in darkness are difficult to see, whereas the arrow and the destruction are clear as day.

Therefore, no matter whether you can see how the enemy is attacking or not, you shall not be afraid because God is protecting you from all Satanic weapons!

Such beautiful protection promises from God aren’t they? I’m so glad that Mae is able to keep these revelations in her heart from this young age of 4 so that she can use these powerful shields to garrison her heart throughout her life. Psalm 91 is not just a defensive psalm, it also has offensive elements!

Spend Time Alone with Jesus

“Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”” (Mark‬ ‭8:22-26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

The townsfolk wanted to see a spectacle. They begged Jesus to heal a blind man so they could witness His power as if it were a show for entertainment.

Jesus perceived their thoughts. He was not going to heal the blind man there because He wasn’t trying to impress man. The blind man wasn’t a circus act—he was a hurting person in need of God’s loving care.

Gently, Jesus led the blind man out of the town by the hand, so that they were alone, and then, He healed him.

After the man was healed, Jesus told him not to tell anyone about it! What a beautiful person Jesus is. He wasn’t doing it for fame or adoration. He genuinely loves people and wants to see them set free.

We need time alone with Jesus
Let Him lead you by the hand
Separate from judging eyes
Far from the worldly ways of man.

When it’s just you and Him
Powerful things take place
Loving exchanges of words
And miracles flowing by Grace.

Spend time with Jesus today
He will heal you with His hand
You’ll go home totally restored
And see clearly again!

The Beautiful Savior

“Most certainly I tell you, we speak that which we know, and testify of that which we have seen, and you don’t receive our witness.” (John‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭WEB‬)

Who was Jesus referring to when He said “we” and “our”?
He was referring to His Father, Himself and the Holy Spirit—the triune witness and yet also one—the Father in Him and He in the Father through the Holy Spirit.

This reminds us of the time the Lord Yahweh deliberated with the Father and the Holy Spirit about the plan to redeem mankind from the fall.

“Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”” (Genesis‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭WEB‬)

Yahweh is the name of the pre-incarnate Christ. At that time He was only spirit without a body.

He submitted to the Father’s will and took on the likeness of sinful flesh to be born of a virgin as Jesus—completely God and yet completely Man.

It is amazing to me that Yahweh would humble Himself to such an extent of living simply as a Man for 30 over years on earth.

Imagine going from breathing the perfect atmosphere of Heaven to living in a dump like this fallen earth.
Going from being worshiped and served by myriads of angel armies, to serving multitudes by healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, casting out demons and feeding the hungry.
He who always enjoyed eternal life tasted of death in such a cruel and terrifying way for our sake—to redeem us by emptying His body of sinless blood!

What an amazing God we have who is completely love. Who has all power, knowledge and yet chooses to use it all for man’s benefit in such a personal, self-sacrificial way.

Paul summarized it in such a beautiful way:

“Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians‬ ‭2:5-11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

How can we not worship Him and give Him all the glory and honor? He is so worthy of having the name above all names! Be exalted o’ Lord Jesus!!
Fall on your knees and bow to the ground—worship the Lamb of God who saved you to the uttermost!
He will deliver you from every trouble and will establish you firmly forever.

Do you see His beauty? Does love and admiration for Jesus fill your heart from reading this?
