The Warehouse 1957 is one of the latest cafe spot in Taiping, it is found right next to the Container Hotel, a short drive from Taiping lake. It is housed in a container with simple, industrial style interior decor. The menu is quite big- with an array of Western dishes from appetizers, to mains and desserts. We were too full to try their mains and decided to try some of their light snacks. The Seafood Toast was quite good- with a creamy, savory sauce accompanying... the whole flavor combo worked but a pity that the edges of the Toast were slightly too dry to our liking. Threadfish Salad was something with Thai element (Kerabu-like Salad)... it was just okay-average. A modern, chic place to hangout nevertheless.

Hi, everyone :) Today we’re going to show you how to make a traditional Swedish almond cake, also known as Mandeltårta/Mandeltorta and Almondy(by IKEA).
Everyone knows this Swedish almond cake from the IKEA restaurant. It’s a light, fluffy cake with a creamy custard, topped with sliced toasted almonds. But now you can make it at home as long as you follow our recipe. This cake is gluten-free, so those who can’t eat wheat or gluten can enjoy this cake. Hope you like this video. Smaklig måltid! :)

Ingredients
☞ almond cake
egg white 3
a pinch of salt
granulated sugar 72g
almond powder 120g
flaked almonds, toasted, to decorate 40g
☞ butter custard
egg yolk 3
whipping cream 120ml
granulated sugar 60g
unsalted butter, softened 90g
vanilla extract 2g
Instructions
1. Pour whipping cream, sugar and vanilla extract in a heavy pan over a medium heat, until all sugar is dissolved. Then remove from heat.
2. Meanwhile, whisk the yolk and pour it into the saucepan, mix well.
3. Return to heat, stirring constantly for 5-6 min until the mixture has thickened. Remove from heat, and pour the custard into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and leave to cool in fridge.
4. In a large clean bowl, add egg white and a pinch of salt, whisk with an electric hand mixer. When tiny bubbles appear, add sugar gradually in 3 times and keep beating until stiff peak form.
6. Add haft ground almonds, using a spatula and fold until incorporated. Then add the rest of ground almonds, fold everything together.
7. Spoon the cake mixture into a bag with a 1 inch round tip. Pipe the mixture onto the baking parchment circle. you can draw a circles on a paper and put it under the baking parchment. Repeat this process again.
8. Preheat the oven to 170C, and bake for 18~20 min. Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
9. Pour almond slices into a pan over medium heat. Use a wooden spoon to stir. Once the almonds are brown, pour the toasted almond slices into another dish to cool.
10. Put the butter in a bowl and beat with an electric hand mixer in low heat until light and fluffy. Gradually add the cold custard, beating until mix well.
11. To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a plate, spread with 1 third of the butter custard mix. Then place the second one on top and spread the remaining custard, don't forget to spread the sides of the cake.
12. Sprinkle with the almond slices. Cover and chill in fridge for one hour before serving.

This classic pound cake is so easy, even for beginner bakers. It tastes rich and tender, dense and moist. Its flavored with lemon juice and drizzled with a white lemon glaze, this is the ultimate pound cake for lemon lovers! Glaze lemon pound cake is very good with hot tea in the afternoon or as the finale to a dinner party. Hope you enjoy.

Classic Glaze Lemon Pound Cake
✎ Pan size: 7x16cm
Ingredients
☞ For the Pound Cake
unsalted butter softened 100g
sugar 100g
cake flour 100g
egg at room temp, 2
a pinch of salt
vanilla extract 2g
☞ For the Syrup
water 40g
sugar 30g
lemon juice 10g
☞ For The Glaze
powdered sugar 80g
lemon juice 15g

Instructions
1. Butter pan and dusk flour to coat. Set aside.
2. Add the softened butter and salt, cream the butter until light, fluffy and creamy (medium speed, about 4 minutes)
3. Add ⅓ of sugar, beat for 1 min each addition.
4. Pour the eggs, one at a time, mix for about 30 seconds for each time, Scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary.
5. Add the vanilla and mix for a further 30~40 sec.
6. Sift about ⅓ of flour, fold it in gently with spatula until the flour has disappeared. Repeat 2 times with the remaining flour.
7. Simply create a line of butter on top the cake batter before it goes into the oven, and then the cake will crack open along it.
8. Preheat the oven to 170C, and bake for 50-55 mins
9. Meanwhile, combine the water and sugar in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add 10g lemon juice to mix well.
10. Remove the cakes from the oven, and to cool down for about 10 - 15 minutes. Invert the warm cake onto a rack. Take a skewer and poke pulls. Gradually brush the syrup over the cake. Allow to cool completely.
11. To make the glaze: in a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar and lemon juice. Spoon the glaze over the top of the cake and let it drip down the sides. Then sprinkle of lemon zest on top.
