This is my 1st string plant Dischidia nummularia also popularly known as “String of Nickels” ot String of Coins bcoz of it’s leaves are like nickels (coins) 💰
It’s an epiphyte (air plant) so this makes it easier for beginners who’s looking for nice, trailing, decor plants to hang on basket, windows or balcony 🎏
Normally Epiphytes grown on trees, rocks or any kind of structures instead of soil / ground. They don’t need a lot water (their leaves can absorb water / moisture from air).
For my String of Nickels, I actually hang this in my shower area where the light is zero - low light. I hardly water it bcoz during shower, the humidity increases inside the bathroom and droplets of water splashes on them 🚿
It’s surviving for nearly a year now, and when it flowers the flowers are cute tiny white flowers! 🌸
According to plant care, they like shaded / filtered light and requires only watering once it’s dried (see the leaves of it wrinkles). You can either mist it or soak it in water 3-5mins weekly (if it’s tied to a tree bark) 💦
So consider this if you’re looking for a indoor, low light / shaded plant but remember to give it some sun once a while to stay healthy bcoz all plants need sun! 🌞
