I was looking at someone’s Instagram today and admiring how pretty it was - all of the photos matched together in colour, they were edited perfectly, all taken on a super high quality DSLR, and everything flowed so well.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And then I thought to myself: “our feed isn’t like that... our feed isn’t really that pretty, we don’t put too much thought into colour coordination or layouts... yeah I pop some filters on my photos and I try to upload things that look nice, but beyond that not much thought goes into the actual photo itself”.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And for a second I kind of felt a little... like.. inferior because of it, I literally thought to myself “we really gotta up our game ” which was kind of silly, but then as I thought about it more, I realised my feed matches who I am as a person. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m a bit of a mess, I don't put a lot of effort into what I wear or how my hair looks, I’m not really stylish (almost all my "civilian clothes" are from Taobao, half of the time I'm in activewear, and I've been doing my makeup the same way, but I feel like people don’t follow me for those reasons anyway, I hope they follow me for the meaning behind my posts and how I make them feel better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We tried doing the whole “whitewash” ordeal for a while, we tried getting super matchy with our posts' colors and I got over it in about 5 seconds because for me, that’s not what this platform is about and it’s not what I personally like to use it for. I like to tell stories and make people feel good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong, I love and appreciate a beautiful Instagram feed and some people just have that artistic eye and they can create the most beautiful photos.
But that’s not me, and it never will be, my feed will always be a little unorganised and all over the place because that’s who I am ✌🏽
