The recent significant increase in maternity shoots has made me reflect more on the meaning of motherhood.

I have never considered shooting maternity until 2-3 years ago. I just wasn’t ready for it when I couldn’t understand the feelings of being a mother.

It was not until when my close friends started getting pregnant - and as I journeyed with them emotionally through it, and witnessed them transform through pregnant months and being new mothers - that I truly came face to face with it.

Yes it’s true that all portraits need to deliver aesthetic beauty. But what’s more to maternity photos (for me) is about capturing the strength and softness of surrendering.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The giving up of our old self and priorities (and our old body!), the letting go of certainty and control, and the anticipating of having our hearts stretched and expanded in often painful but rewarding ways.

This, I believe, is what every mother wishes to remember as they embark on their forever-changed lives.

Their strength, their softness, their transformation - and all the beauty that arises from it.

Nervously Counting down 🙃 as this waiting game starts now! When do you think we will meet our Baby E? Though its my 3rd time but it stills feels so strange.. 😳😳, not sure what to expect honestly. Wish me luck pls!
