Tucked in an old, unattractive warehouse at the end of Weld Quay (opposite to the Ferry Terminal), Jetty35 (潮人居) is a place that gathers artists, designers, craft person and vendors to share their latest creations and products. It’s running a little like a local art market; this trend is pretty common in places like Bangkok, Taiwan, Hong Kong but not as popular here in Penang. Along the narrow entrance, vendors and artists display their proud creations and occasionally, craft enthusiast conducting classes or workshops to eager learners (there are free ones though most would cost a fee). Also housed in the place is 3 huge halls where currently one is being occupied as a café, 1 is being used to display old, heritage images of Khoo Kongsi while the biggest one is an event space. It’s a good change from the shopping mall scene, give the place a visit and support the local art scene; you can also stretch your leg at the café (small menu but the dessert choices will cheer up your day).
