WarnerMedia 將今年一整年的大片同步上架 HBO Max 的激烈實驗雖然為 HBO Max 打下市場，但也得罪了許多創作者，更很可能是 WarnerMedia 執行長 Jason Kilar 即將下台一鞠躬的其中一個理由。然而依據旗下製片部門 Warner Bros. Pictures Group 的主席和營運長接受洛杉磯時報訪問時提供的說法，這個實驗方案今年底結束之後，明年他們將打算採用一半一半的策略：也就是說會有一半的 Warner 電影同步上架串流，另一半則採用45天空窗期在電影院上映45天後才會上架。這個說法顯示同步上架已經從一個短期實驗性計畫變成一種發行業的常態。他們的理由則是經過這半年的實驗，他們發現不僅電影院感到滿意，創作者也終於算是接受，而他們內部的串流部門 HBO Max 則是對成效非常驚喜。需提醒的是2022年 Discovery 正式與 WarnerMedia 合併之後，預計擔任執行長的 David Zaslav 可能不一定會同意這個政策（外界普遍認為他比 Hulu 出身的現任執行長 Jason Kilar 更對創作者友善）。然而 David Zaslav 一輩子的經驗都局限在電視台，沒有電影發行的相關經驗，能否對發行機制做出大膽判斷還是個未知數。
