Hi all! This one's for artists from Sabah, especially my hometown, Kota Kinabalu:
I've wanted to work on a project with artists from KK, so along with my friend Jared Abdul Rahman, we've come up with an idea called "30 Inspiring Sabahans". 30 artists from KK will paint 30 faces of Sabahans (chosen by the artists) on columns on a site in the centre of KK (photo below).
We've got 20 confirmed artists and are looking for 10 more. If you're interested in joining us, please email me at red@redhongyi.com with the title, "KK Mural", along with some examples of your work.
We're hoping to have this ready by Malaysia Day (16th September), and so will be busy on site throughout the week of 10-15th September. Share this with friends who are interested! 🙂
(ps: The artists have submitted names of Sabahans they'd like to paint, and as they have explained why they've chosen these people to paint, I'm inspired myself to learn of the many Sabahans who have contributed to our state. I truly hope this project will be one that will inspire, educate and attract locals and tourists alike. One that will honour these nominated Sabahans while highlighting artists from Sabah).
pps: open to ALL Sabahans! However, this is a voluntary project and while we're seeking sponsors, at this moment you will have to make your own way to KK. Once you get here though, we'd love to have you on board!)
