今日，讓我們將自己香港的歷史記憶延續，重溫一下在1997年7月1日前，當我們香港仍與文明世界站在一起時，我們那個既莊嚴又優雅的徽號 - 香港盾徽。

香港盾徽 Coat of arms of Hong Kong (Hong Kong Armorial Bearing)

歷史故事：
香港日治時期 (1942-1945) ，身處赤柱集中營的郵政司榮鍾士 (E. I. Wynne-Jones) 設計了一個香港盾徽，並於戰後的1947年提交時任港督楊慕琦 (Sir Mark Aitchison YOUNG) 作考慮。可是楊慕琦並無意更改徽號，故沒有接納這個設計，最後不了了之。

直至1958年，港督柏立基 (Sir Robert Brown BLACK) 重新審視盾徽，並由副輔政司韓美洵 (Mr. G.C Hamilton) 及地政測量處總繪圖員W.E. Jones繪畫草圖，再交由英國紋章院修改。

英國紋章院修改後，行政局和英國政府分別於1958年9月和10月通過了設計。

1959年1月21日女皇簽署英廷委任狀 (Royal Warrant)，頒佈盾徽的設計樣式。3月7日，愛丁堡公爵菲臘親皇訪港，在伊利沙伯醫院的奠基儀式中，代表英女皇伊利沙伯二世將盾徽授予香港，並刊於政府憲報。7月27日，港府正式以此作為旗幟設計樣式，取代「阿群帶路圖」，直至1997年6月30日。

盾徽設計：
• 最下方的基座 (Compartment) 是一座島嶼，它圍上了象徵海水的波紋，代表香港島。
• 島嶼上有一條飄帶 (Banderole)，飄帶上寫着「HONG KONG」。
• 飄帶上方，盾徽的正中是一塊盾牌 (Escutcheon)。該盾牌是整個盾徽的主體，盾牌內的下方畫有象徵海水的波紋，而海面上的左、右方各繪有一艘中式帆船，反映香港早期十分著重海上貿易。上方的海戰金冠 (Naval crown)，寓意皇家海軍 (Royal Navy) 和英國商船隊 (Merchant Navy) 與香港的聯繫；而盾牌內上、下之間一條象徵城垛的凹凸線，則用作紀念1941年對抗日本侵略的香港保衛戰。
• 盾牌左右兩方的扶盾 (Supporter)，分別繪有一隻代表英國、頭戴皇冠的獅子，以及一條代表大清國的龍作為盾牌的護盾獸。兩者扶着盾牌互相對望。
• 盾牌上方的冠飾 (Helmet) 部份繪有一隻頭戴皇冠，手持珍珠，面向盾徽左方的小獅子，而那顆珍珠寓意香港為「東方之珠」。

Erect a stone monument in the ground of the here quail field, and convey this historical fact in history, and amuse itself, and do the spirit of a dead person of an ardent patriotism done brave man heartily, and put it together now;
