今天是我與婉如結婚25週年紀念，婉如，祝我們週年快樂，想對你說聲，謝謝你，我愛你。
25年了，不管我選擇投入什麼工作，你一直是我人生最大的支持。看著這張照片，十分想念我們年輕時的日子。在美國相識相戀，成家立業，之後在日本聯合國組織進行研究工作，我們在海外的日子，輕鬆愜意，也能專注於學術研究，連結全球的台灣留學生，一起思考如何讓台灣更好。
回到台灣以後，我到中正大學教書，不久後即進到政府工作，開始了無盡忙碌的生活。我們人生最大的改變，是2005年我決定參選台中市長，這個決定讓原本生活單純、自由自在的你，作出極大的犧牲。我知道這十多年來，你不停地調整自己，不停地放下自己的事情，要忙博物館的事務、要照顧家裡、教育孩子、還要輔選、幫忙跑行程，只為給我最大的支持。
從政，有時候難免必須面對很多複雜的人事物，我的心情總有起伏。常常有人說，要謝謝有一個太太始終在後面支持我，但是，其實更多時候，我覺得你是站在我前面，指引我不要忘記最初的夢想，為我點亮黑暗的時刻，給我力量。
就跟一般夫妻一樣，我們也會吵架、冷戰，然後溝通、和好。除了緊密的愛，我想更難得的是我們能天南地北，無所不談，也始終能一起思考、辯論生命與台灣的難題。你除了是我的妻子外，也是我的朋友，在任何時刻都是如此。人生得你相伴，何其幸運，夫復何求？
25年來，婉如，我知道你犧牲很多，心裡也經常會很愧疚。然而忙碌的生活，推著我往前跑，而你超越一般女性對另一半的忍耐度，很少抱怨，只希望我能記得好好休息。四月台鐵列車事故發生時，你只能透過新聞看到我，然後小心翼翼地捎訊息給身旁同事，慰問他們的辛苦，也拜託他們如果看到便利商店，能不能買點維他命給我，而這是我後來才知道的事情。你有善良的心，也是特別感性的人，總是細心地為我關心身旁的人，讓拙於言語的我，能減少得罪人的機率。還有人曾開玩笑說，我的擇偶能力比你好很多。😅
婉如，我們一起走過好多路，結婚就像昨天的事，一晃眼就過了25年。我們的孩子也逐漸長大了，開始會展開自己的人生，有自己的夢想。所以當我們一起同理每一個台灣孩子都該有夢時，我們感到熱血，彷彿回到學生時代。就像你常常說的，幫助別人發光，會是多麼幸福的事情。
25年前的許諾，在New Haven市政廳的I do依然在耳邊，而我們還要牽手繼續走下去，你永遠是我最好的牽手，謝謝你，我愛你。
