9 Days Charity Menus: Food For Fighters continues their philanthropy work with the Kao Kin Kan (9 กิน กัน) campaign which involves 9 Bangkok Chefs over 9 days to cook 300 meals per day for Covid-19 affected patients at Bangkok field hospitals during 19th - 27th August 2021, using the ingredients from local farmers purchased by Food for Fighters project raised-fund.
Food for Fighters also would like to wish the public members with prosperity and good health with number 9 auspicious number by joining the campaign to donate 9 THB in order for the organisation to move forward with this charity food preparing activity.
The inspiration of Kao Kin Kan (9 กิน กัน) campaign which is literally translated as “Let’s Go Eating” or “Let’s Move” is a phrase which plays with the word “Kao” with similar pronunciation but with different spelling and meaning. “Kao” being the number 9 (“เก้า”), a lucky Thai number. Another meaning is “Kao or ก้าว” which means to “move forward”. Inspired by all these meaning, this is what Food for Fighters, chefs, volunteers, sponsors and friends are collectively doing together to donate food boxes daily to people and frontline medical staff who are in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Self-partnered — Emma Watson享受單身現狀而創出的新字,表示享受與自己作伴。
無論單身與否,大家都記得好好保養自己,現在開始養生不嫌遲。

Spinster? Old maid? ‘Single dog’?
Terms used to describe single individuals
We are living in an era that celebrates singlehood. The population of single individuals is increasing by the day, but many derogatory terms are still constantly used to make fun of them. These derogatory terms will even further reinforce the negative stereotype towards single people. Which of the following terms do you hate the most?
Old hag (‘lou gu po’) – unmarried old woman
‘Leftover men/women’ (‘sing nam’/’sing lui’) — Men/women who have reached the age to marry but still did not do so
Experienced women (‘sing lui’) – has the same Cantonese pronunciation as the ‘leftover women’; the concept came from a reality show which gave single bachelorettes a makeover and helped them find partners
‘Himono onna’ – originated from Japan; used to describe young woman who have given up on love, and they prefer to live a laid back life like dried mushrooms
‘Bai hyun’ or which literally means defeated dog – originated from Japan; used to describe unmarried woman who have reached their 30s; just like ostracized stray dogs
‘Gwong gwan’ or literally means ‘single man’ – originated from mainland; used to describe bachelors at first, but soon became a general term to describe all single individuals
‘Dan san gao’ which literally means single dog – commonly used by netizens from mainland; the use of the word ‘dog’ is derogatory
‘Duk lam’/’duk lui’, which literally means ‘poisonous men / women’ – originated from Japan; has a similar pronunciation as ‘lonely men/women’; refers to single men and women who fail to attract the opposite sex
Bachelor (‘dan san gwai zuk’) – a man without a partner and is financially independent
Diamond bachelor (‘zyun sek wong lou ng’) – a single man who is rich and has a successful career
Self-partnered — a term actress Emma Watson coined to express the joy of living with her own self
Be it single or married, you must learn to take good care of our health and lead a healthier life.

Go to https://buyraycon.com/xiaomanyc for 15% off your order! Brought to you by Raycon. I’ve always wanted to learn a Native American language, but it’s been extremely difficult to find anyone with whom I could learn as most indigenous American languages are considered critically endangered or extinct. So a couple months ago I was extremely excited to get in touch with someone who could teach me Navajo, the original language of the Navajo people who live mostly in the Navajo Nation located in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Less than 200,000 people speak Navajo in the entire world. Navajo is hands down the hardest language I’ve ever studied, with extremely challenging pronunciation and one of the most complex grammatical systems of any extant language. It’s so complex that the language was used by the Navajo code talkers as the basis for a secret communication system during World War II.
But even though many young people no longer speak the language, the older generation often still does, and so after a month of studying the language and me and my crew’s COVID vaccinations we flew out to New Mexico to find locals to practice with. Thanks to Raycon for sponsoring this video and I’ll be donating 100% of the sponsorship profits to NavajoStrong, a nonprofit which supports the Navajo community. If you would like to find out more about or donate to NavajoStrong, you can find them at: https://www.navajostrong.org/

HOW TO REMEMBER TONES OF VOCABULARY
I often get students said: It's so hard to remember the tones of my vocabulary.
And it seems that tones are important, and Chinese natives might not understand or misunderstand you if you don't get your tones right, what should I do?
How should I work on my tones and remember the tones?
For example: party vs. queue in Mandarin / steamed bun vs. newspaper in Mandarin
So in this livestream, I'm going to share how I suggest my students to do in order to remember the tones of Chinese vocabulary.
