After living in Taichung city for 13 years I have collected hundreds, maybe thousands of photos of some of the beautiful places this central city offers…. from the countryside of Dongshih, the mountains of Guguan to the enthusiasm of the baseball stadium within the bright lights of the city centre this city has shown me such an amazing time that I feel calling it my second home just doesn’t do it justice…. Taichung is my HOME…. and sharing it with friends is the perfect way to enjoy this vibrant metropolis! I hope everybody is staying safe and looking after each other but as soon as the virus is under control I am looking forward to jumping on the newly opened MRT and exploring this awesome city and sharing it with the world!

I do like horses. And when I wrote my book many years back, I wrote about "an amusement park, a horse's eye & little orange suns". This studious birthday gift on my writing desk brings me back to the magical times I spent experiencing life, feeling, and writing. And like a horse, steadfast, kind, strong. I do miss me writing. 🐴

"I was blinded by the sunlight in its eyes. I didn't know if it was #love or the notion of love I saw, that blinded me. Still, the reflection of the sun in its eyes was one of the most beautiful reflections I'd ever seen, and it was shining brightly. It was like a dream, maybe it was still a dream, the little black wooden horse the boy was riding on had transformed into this most magnificent creature standing in front of me.

We seemed to have known each other a long time, yet we had only just come to meet. In the short time that this lifeless, wooden, previously non-existent form had come to take on a real life form and existence in my eyes, we seemed to have been to many places together before. We had been through summers of orange suns, winters of falling snow, ploughed through tough uneven mountains, galloped across wide raging rivers, taken slow walks through large open fields of long grass and blue skies, leapt through windows of hope and promise of future which we drew for ourselves...

We just weren't so sure if all these were happening outside of the little carousel worlds we came from, or if indeed we were spinning to a quicker and giddier same rhythm within them. It didn't really matter perhaps, because we were #happy and we believed in it and it was #real." 💙

The story of Sign of Silence, you and your friends go to the mountains for camping on the weekend. The path leads you to the indirect road. When the abyss, you over the shaky bridge, the result is your car falls into the space. Darkness. Even you and your friends survive. The car is broken and there is no cell phone signal. You are surrounded by the freak forest and when the darkness of night comes in. Only way out is to go. Is there a way to cross the forest? Went to ask for help from a small town named Danville.

We didn’t have the best start at our third day in Vietnam. On the way to Ninh Binh, someone tried to steal my bag, we had to spend 2 hours on a train infested with cockroaches but after that we spent the most amazing two days surrounded by nature in Ninh Binh. Tip: explore Vietnam by scooter !

【今日の動画について】
「赤ちゃんの初めての家族旅行」ということで、今日の動画は、高知で撮った家族旅行の動画です。こちらは、１日目で、次回の動画は2日目になります。「赤ちゃんの初めての家族旅行」だからかどうかわかりませんが、今回の家族旅行で１歳の赤ちゃんのオリビアはなんとカメラの「チーズ」」できるようになりました！！赤ちゃんの成長って速いですね！

そして、タイトルに書かせていただいた「外国人の妻が英語で高知県を観光する」ですが、これから日本のいろんなところに行って、その町・エリアの素晴らしいところを外国人の目から見て、是非英語で皆さんにご共有したいと思います。

This is our baby's first family vacation EVER!!! Our baby, Olivia, is now one year old and we've actually never had a real family vacation with our little baby. So our little baby's first family vacation is going to be a trip to a historical area in Japan--Kochi, Japan. Traveling with kids in Japan is a bit tough as few places have any real resources for kids, but as you'll see from this video, we found the most amazing hotel for both parents and kids. If you're traveling with kids in Japan, we highly recommend it! This hotel in Japan offered us the chance to spend the weekend with them and we are so glad they did. I think our baby had the most amazing first family vacation ever!

ご招待をいただいたホテルは、親子にとってもフレンドリー且つVeryお洒落な
「ザ・シックスダイアリーかほくホテルアンドリゾート」です。高知に家族旅行される方は、是非、おすすめです。普段ホテルに置かれていない赤ちゃん・子供のアメニティー（グッズ）もたくさんあり、だからと言って「子供っぽいホテル」という訳でもないです。ロビーに入った瞬間から、リゾート地をイメージしたロビーがあり、明るくて（ちょっとアメリカンっぽい？）雰囲気の中で大人も楽しく過ごせるし、子供も何時間も飽きないで遊べます。オムツもベイビーバスも授乳室も・・・ハイチェア、キッズメニュー、おもちゃ、ベビーカーの貸し出し・・・Etc etc! いろいろ揃っているホテルなので、お陰様で、今回の旅は結構手ぶらでいけました。URLはこちらです！

◆Hotel
The hotel we stayed at is called The 6th Diary Kahoku Hotel and Resort. It is located near the city of Kochi,Japan. If you're traveling with kids in Kochi, Japan, we HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend staying here. It was every possible amenity and service that a traveling parent could ever require-diapers (yes, you read that right-free diapers for guests!!!), a baby bathtub, baby soap/shampoo, a nursing room in the lobby, two really big play areas right next to the dining room, toys, stroller rental…etc etc. We practically packed nothing when we stayed here! But don't be fooled. This is not a "kiddy" hotel. While they have tons of services for kids, the entire hotel is positively gorgeous. It actually sort of look like some kind of resort destination. ◆桂浜（高知の観光地）
高知市に行かれる方は是非坂本龍馬像を見に行ってください！大きさに私たちが圧倒されたけど、大きさだけではなく、特別なパワーももらって帰りました。歴史的にとても大事な人物ですし、とにかく日本っぽい海辺なので、本当にオススメです。ただ、ごはん屋さんは非常に少ないなのでお昼ごはんの時間に合わせて行かれない方がいいと思います！

◆Katsura-Hama (Katsura Beach in Kochi, Japan)
If you traveling anywhere near Kochi, Japan, I highly recommend visiting Katsura-Hama (Katsura Beach). First of all, the beach is home to the famous Sakamoto Ryoma statue. Sakamoto Ryoma is an extremely important historical figure in Japanese history and somehow the entire beach was enveloped in a certain aura of strength and power. Not to mention that mountains by the beach are all blanketed with Japanese pine trees. The scene feels like something out of a Japanese film. There aren't a lot of places to dine in this area, though, so I recommend visiting this area NOT during lunch or dinner time.

◆The Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum
This is a great museum to take children to if you are ever in Kochi, Japan. There is a whole wing filled with historical activities for children (including a part of a pirate ship!) and they can also see actual samurai swords-always a plus for the little ones.

◆Kochi Castle (Kochi, Japan)
If you're traveling to Kochi, you really do need to take an hour and a half or so to climb up to Kochi Castle. The inside of the castle is incredible and the view from the top is inspiring. There is also a beautiful model of Kochi during the times of the castle.
