As a child Yannick was influenced by his uncle, a portrait photographer, and would spend hours exploring his parents photo albums, and issues of National Geographic. It was in high school when his friends started to make music that Yannick would shoot their shows. This led to working with other artists and eventually shooting more shows, portraits, parties, and events all over Toronto. Some of his largest events include Yes Yes Y’all, a a monthly queer reggae and hip hop party he has shot from 2009 until today, and Tiff 2015—capturing moments of dance, culture, community, and each unique identity.
Yannick chose Format because, even though his photography career was just starting, creating an online portfolio to showcase his work on a professional level was simple, easy and clean. Beyond his own Format portfolio, Yannick enjoys the features and articles on Format Magazine.
