Taiwan faced widespread rolling blackouts that affected millions of households on Thursday following an unknown outage at a power plant on the island’s south, which came after the affected energy supplier had once warned the drought and heatwave hitting the island were creating a strain on the power supply. Taipower’s Hsingta Power Plant, located in the southern municipality of Kaohsiung, tripped at 2:37 p.m. on Thursday, said Kao Tzu-hang, spokesperson for the state-owned electricity provider.

If you are the fan of Steve Antony, if there are kids who always stick to TV or computer/smart phone in your house, please don’t miss Steve’s new release- Unplugged.
.
“Blip liked being plugged into her computer.” The first line in the story, it said. Blip is like most of the children who were born after millennium nowadays. She learned new things, played games, visited faraway places from her computer, stayed alone in a black and white world all day long. But one day, there was a power cut, and Blip tripped over her wire and toppled out the door. Outside the door, there was a bright and colorful world waiting for her, grassy hill, tall trees, blue winding river …and some real animal friends. Learning new things, playing, dancing, and visiting faraway places… She did everything with her real friends outside just as what she had done with her black and white computer. But when it was getting late to go home, when she plugged back into her computer, though it’s great to be plugged again, however, all she could think about was how great it was to be UNPLUGGED! It is a story about adventure, discovery and friendship, and it tells us how great it is not only to be on your computer, but also to be outside in the great outdoors.
.
Yes, why are you still sitting here and reading my post? Unplug your computer and go outside right now!!! (Don’t tell me you are reading this with a smart phone, so you can’t find where the plug is, HA~🤣)

【玳瑚師父出差錄】 電梯受困記 Being trapped in the elevator
-------------------------------------
The day before, on my way for a feng shui audit at an industrial building, I got trapped for the first time in a freight elevator.
As I entered the elevator with my students, I had a sudden intuition and asked my disciple, "Is this lift safe?"
My disciple replied, "I take this lift every time and it works fine!"
The lift doors shut and with a sudden jerk, the power supply tripped and we were thrown into complete darkness.
Feelings of helplessness and impermanence arose in me.
I asked my students, "If we are to meet with a mishap and have to take our last breath today, what's there left of our so-called wealth, property, fame and personal grudges? Your family, your looks and long hair that you are so proud of, your savings, will those still be yours?"
In this mortal world, what is there to fight about?
Faced with the impermanence & fragility of life, cultivation must begin early. If we do not repent for our past sins in time, should we land in the darkness of Hell, our eyes will never see the bright sunlight, our ears will only hear horrifying screams of terror and our bodies will undergo torturous punishment. It will be too late by then!
Looking back, this is probably my retribution too. I was quite mischievous as a kid. My friends and I would often play with the elevators. The taller one would turn off the fluorescent light tubes in the lift and amidst the darkness, a bunch of us would be screaming and shouting in mock terror. How juvenile & ignorant we were then! The law of cause & effect truly exist and we should not be denying it.
We were trapped in the elevator for a good 45 minutes. Just as we felt slight difficulty in breathing, the technician arrived in time to pry open the lift doors, rescuing the 3 of us. It was with much gratitude as I stepped out into the warmth of sunlight. How good it will be if the brilliance of sunshine is omnipresent in the heart of every person and darkness shall never invade!
Thank you to my client, Mr Low and the building management for their assistance! And another big thank you to the electrician who rescued us!

Chauncey Billups' sprained ankle concerned the Detroit Pistons as much as their win over Philadelphia excited them.
Richard Hamilton scored 25 points and Billups had to be helped off the court after his 24th point as top-seeded Detroit beat the fourth-seeded Philadelphia 76ers 98-87 Tuesday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
"It was tough,'' Hamilton said. "I ran to him and said, 'You all right?' You could see he was in some pain. Chauncey is a big asset to our team.
"I just got done talking to him in the training room, and said, 'Please tell me you'll be all right for Game 2.' Hopefully he'll be back.''
Game 2 is Thursday night at The Palace. Pistons coach Rick Carlisle said he may not know until gameday whether Billups will play.
Philadelphia also has a limping guard.
X-rays were taken of Eric Snow's right foot after the game, and they were negative. Snow, who received treatment on his foot before the contest, will be evaluated again before practice Wednesday.
Allen Iverson, who led the league in scoring during the first round, had 27 points on 8-of-21 shooting for the 76ers. He averaged 34.8 points in the first round against Charlotte.
"They played better than us, but we still had a chance to win the basketball game, so we feel good about that,'' Iverson said.
Detroit was in control for much of the game, but it was never comfortable.
That was especially true when Billups left when he turned his left ankle after shooting a jumper and landing on Snow's foot. His basket gave the Pistons a 77-70 lead with 10:09 left. Billups has scored 101 points in his past three games.
The Sixers scored consecutive baskets to pull within three -- the closest they had been since early in the second quarter -- but Detroit rookie Mehmet Okur scored six straight points to give the Pistons the cushion they needed.
"We got to 77-74 and we self-destructed,'' 76ers coach Larry Brown said.
Philadelphia could not get closer than six points as the Pistons made enough free throws to seal the win. Detroit has not trailed in the second half of its last four games.
The Pistons lost the opening game of the playoffs to Orlando and were forced to rally to be just the seventh team in NBA history to win a series after trailing 3-1.
"We know how important it is to win the first game because we didn't like being at the other end in the last round,'' Carlisle said. "But we also won the first game last year against Boston and lost the series, so we know how important Game 2 is, too.''
The Celtics eliminated the Pistons in Game 5 of the conference semifinals last season.
Detroit's bench, which led the league with 34.1 points a game during the regular season, was a force.
Okur scored a playoff-high 16, while Tayshaun Prince and Corliss Williamson each had eight. Chucky Atkins, who replaced Billups, scored a basket for the first time since Game 5 against the Magic.
"Their bench came in and gave them a huge lift,'' Brown said.
Philadelphia's Derrick Coleman scored a playoff-high 21 points and reserve Greg Buckner added 11.
The Sixers made most of their shots in the first half, but their turnovers were costly.
Philadelphia hit 56.3 percent to Detroit's 37.5 percent, but trailed 24-21 after the first quarter. The Pistons converted eight turnovers into eight points.
Early in the second quarter, after Philadelphia took its second lead, Detroit scored nine straight points for a 33-25 lead.
By halftime, the Sixers were still making more than half their shots, but trailed 49-40 because the Pistons turned 13 turnovers into 16 points.
Detroit went ahead 63-50, its largest lead, midway through the third quarter, but began the fourth up just 73-66.
Game notes
There was a 19-minute delay at 7:51of the first quarter because the overhead lights at The Palace went out. "A breaker was tripped, just like what happens in a house,'' Pistons spokesman Matt Dobek said. ... Detroit's local television network lost its video and audio signal during the power outage, but play-by-play announcer George Blaha continued to call the action via telephone. ESPN and Philadelphia's television network did not have their broadcasts interrupted.
