#零元英語通識課
🁢 為什麼英 / 美國人講話很喜歡在後面加一個 meaning...
如果你有時有聽英文的 podcast 的習慣,或是會看一些 KOLs、知識型網紅的影片,應該會發現他們很喜歡在講一句話後補一個 "meaning..."。
✔︎舉例來說,Disney 的前 CEO Rob Iger 在他 Masterclass 的線上課中說了 "The beauty of Disney is a lot of the stories that we tell are evergreen in nature, #meaning they have relevance to generation after generation."
其實就是因為他前一句的 are evergreen in nature (本質上是長青、持久不衰的),他想要再講更清楚一些、白話一些,所以再補上一句。
但有時補上 In other words, 有點麻煩,口語當中他們會直接加上 meaning....,這不是寫作英文可以用的。
什麼時候常用?
✔︎ 大學教授很常這樣用(因為很多學術概念很抽象)
✔︎ 商務人士很這樣用 (在商務中清晰的溝通很重要)

It may seem diverse, but my work has never been segmented. What I do in Education & Community work is anchored in the conviction that creative expression unlocks our potential as people, and that the Arts have relevance far beyond its entertainment value.
If you look at the very beginnings of the Arts, it both empowers the individual, as well as the communal.
I hope that as I choose artistic projects of relevance— both in theme and purpose— the message of creative and social empowerment becomes loud and clear.
Thank you, Marie Claire. I am grateful that people care to hear the story of the headstrong 10-year old who— nearly three decades later— still persists in working hard as an artist, and now hopes to pave the way for others to forge the life and community they wish.

4. 培訓、教育和鼓勵員工,加強他們對種族共融的意識,包括認識有助建立多元共融的良好常規政策,以及種族歧視所帶來的不良後果。
5. 提供機會,讓處於弱勢的少數族裔社群認識和投身所屬界別(如實習機會、在職培訓、師友計劃和志願服務)。
6. 營造安全的工作環境,讓所有員工充分協作。
7. 了解及回應不同族裔員工在溝通、政策和活動上的具體需要,讓他們可融入和參與機構之中。

The business sector has always been the close partner of the Equal Opportunities Commission (“#EOC”). My appreciation goes to the employers which shows their serious support to the promotion of racial diversity in the workplace by signing The Racial Diversity & Inclusion Charter For Employers. These employers all concur with the nine goals set forth in the Charter as follows:
1. Implement racial equality and diversity policies for the organisation based on the principles of the Race Discrimination Ordinance (RDO) and the Code of Practice on Employment under the RDO.
2. Establish fair recruitment, appointment, promotion, staff development and dismissal processes and criteria that do not discriminate against any person or groups of persons on the ground of race.
3. Review the employment processes and policies regularly to ensure relevance, fairness and absence of barriers for people of all races.
4. Raise awareness of the policies and principles of racial inclusion and the consequences of racial discrimination among staff through training courses, awareness campaigns, sharing of good practices, events and award schemes.
5. Proactively encourage engagement with racial minorities from underprivileged and under-represented communities through recruitment as well as internship opportunities, on-the-job training, mentorship schemes and staff volunteering activities.
6. Provide a safe and collaborative work environment for all employees.
7. Make employees of all races feel involved and included by taking into account their particular needs, if any, in communication, policies and activities.
8. Have in place a formal grievance process for employees to report and receive redress for any discrimination, harassment or unfair treatment, whether to themselves or observed towards others.
9. Ensure grievances are dealt with swiftly, effectively and confidentially.
The EOC encourages more companies and organisations to sign the Charter and work closely with us by bringing the value of racial diversity and inclusion to every single workplace.

This video I explain why you should be making Micro Movies as a start up filmmaker. Micro Movies are very short short films of 60 seconds or up to 3-4 minutes, because they are very short, they are easy and fast to produce and an easy way to fill up your portfolio, but also to get enough different kind of images to fill up your showreel with.
Also there are many Micro Movie competitions and festivals you can send them in to, often these micro movie entry are low to no entry fees, making them much easier to join then longer short film competitions which often cost money to enter. Plus if your Micro Movie get chosen to be shown you get some nice exposure by the viewers of the film festival.

Joshua Wong 黃之鋒 eligibility to run in the upcoming District Council
election. President Tsai’s Democratic Progressive Party was formed at a
time when political parties other than the Kuomintang (Nationalist
Party) were banned during Taiwan’s martial law era, and advocacy for
Taiwan’s independence from the People’s Republic of China and the
Republic of China was illegal, making it likely DPP politicians will
support Wong and Demosisto’s right to support autonomy referendums. This
will continue criticisms exchanged in recent days between Hong Kong and
Taiwan government officials over how to facilitate travel to Taiwan of
Chan Tong-kai 陳同佳, wanted in Taiwan for the murder of Poon Hui-wing
潘曉穎 that led to Hong Kong’s extradition bill controversy. With Taiwan
insisting on a judicial cooperation agreement and criticizing Hong Kong
officials for not putting Chan on trial for murder in Hong Kong (a legal
impossibility already made clear by Hong Kong), Chan’s return might not
occur until after Taiwan’s presidential and legislative elections.
Politicization of the matter continues, as does each side’s involvement
in the other’s politics. Watch this episode – recorded in Hong Kong -
