I’ve completed my 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and apart from being slightly lethargic and a fleeting mild headache, I felt completely normal.
Ash took his first dose 2 weeks ago and Ayd just had his first jab today. Since they are already teenagers, I wanted them to be involved in the decision-making - whether they wanted to proceed with the vaccination. I was also heartened that their respective school form teachers also went through the background and possible side effects of the vaccine with them. In fact, they were the ones who told me that there is currently no evidence to suggest that COVID-19 vaccination can affect puberty and growth. Vaccination also does not alter one’s DNA. So yes, they actually knew more than me in the end!
With the students returning to school, I feel more assured knowing that my boys are vaccinated so that they can be protected.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we do business, work, and create value all around the world. For example, in the past several months, we have all become Zoom & Microsoft Teams experts! While the rest of the world looks forward to re-opening economies after the pandemic, Hong Kong is also looking forward to recovering from months of social unrest. How will Hong Kong digitize, optimize, and strategize in a new normal, returning to economic growth and leadership? This new normal is a huge opportunity for Hong Kong to drive its transition to a digital economy and create a buoyant innovation ecosystem, linking corporates, start-ups and capital.
"HK Startups Meet Multinational Companies Series" is an ongoing series of meetings, showcasing Inspiration, connecting start-ups with corporates, and building a successful, sustainable innovation community in Hong Kong.
Join us on August 28 for the fourth session: Knowledge. Education is being reshaped for students and teachers alike through new, innovative teaching methods, advancements in technology, and programs designed for a virtual world. So how can start-ups support the continued trend? For the next 18 months many predict there will be a balance of in-person and virtual as COVID continues to limit and challenge traditional learning. In Hong Kong's road to recovery meet some of the start-ups that will help strike a healthy balance, create new opportunities we have not thought of and be integral to the education sector.

The mid-year school holidays start today. Ministry of Education, Singapore decided to bring this forward by a month, to give a break to teachers, parents, students and family members who have had to adjust to home-based learning during the circuit breaker period.
You may not be able to head outside yet, but I hope families will use this time to bond over activities at home. MOE is posting a stay-home activity idea on their Facebook Page every day. National Library Board, Singapore librarians are holding weekday storytelling sessions for young children in the four languages on Facebook (https://go.gov.sg/41j0t4).
Some students taking their national exams this year will be returning to school on 19 May. But for the rest, as and when schools can safely reopen, I am sure everyone is looking forward to seeing their classmates and teachers in person again. – LHL
