(Based on Acts 16:16-24)
What would be the motive for the Python spirit (spirit of divination) to help humans achieve their goals?
To mislead them to seek hidden knowledge from demons instead of from God.
The girl received knowledge supernaturally from the Python spirit about Paul, Luke and Silas, and she was proclaiming it as she followed them.
What she declared was true, but Paul didn’t want or need a demon to proclaim the Gospel on his behalf.
Paul cast the demon out of the girl because he felt annoyed — it was a right thing done out of the wrong motivation, and hence done at the wrong timing.
This caused Paul and his companions to face unnecessary harm.
When you follow your emotions instead of the leading of the Holy Spirit, you will take an unnecessary detour, to learn some painful lessons.
The inner prison is the deepest and most secure part of the prison — like “maximum security” prisons in today’s context.
Not only were they in the deepest prison, they were also securely bound — they were trapped with apparently no way to escape.
