{Recipe} Ginger Beef with Straw Mushroom 🐮 🍄
This is a very easy dish which I have cooked several times. This time round I added Mili straw mushrooms which imparted a different texture to the dish.
Ingredients:
1 can Mili Straw Mushrooms
3 stalks spring onion, cut into 3-cm wedges
1 medium sized onion, sliced.
2 Tb white sesame
3 x 200g wagyu beef Shabu Shabu slices
For the marinade:
6 Tb @newmoonsg soy sauce
6 Tb sake or shao xing wine
3 Tb mirin
3 Tb minced ginger
3/4 green apple, grated
Method:
1. Marinade the meat by combining all the marinade ingredients and the thawed beef slices. Set aside for at least 30min
2. Heat the saucepan and fry the white sesame till golden brown. Set aside for garnish later
3. Heat 1 Tb butter in the same saucepan. Sautéed straw mushrooms and onion. Set aside
4. Stir fry the meat over medium high heat (I didn’t add all the marinade but you can add in if you wish).
5. Toss back the straw mushrooms, onions and mix evenly.
6. Scatter roasted white sesame and garnish with spring onion (optional)

{Recipe} Steamed Abalones in Chicken Essence and Garlic Sauce
One of the simplest way to enjoy abalones is simply by steaming it. These New Moon Australian Abalones make a good choice for this kind of cooking method as they are individually quick frozen and thus their freshness is well preserved. In fact they can be enjoyed raw as sashimi.
Ingredients (Serving size: 10 abalones)
6 cloves garlic, minced
20g ginger, minced
2 stalks spring onion, diced to small pieces
2 box New Moon Australian Abalones (IQF Individually Quick Frozen from LIVE)
For the sauce:
1/2 bottle New Moon Chicken Essence
3TB Shao Xing Wine
1TB New Moon Light Soy Sauce
1 Tsp sesame oil
1 TB sugar
Method:
1. Prepare sauce by heating the sauce ingredients in a pot until sugar is melted.
2. Set abalones in a steaming plate. Spoon roughly 1 Tb of sauce into each abalone and steam for 3min.
3. Heat a nonstick or cast iron pan over medium high heat. Add 3 tablespoon oil and fry the ginger, follow by garlic and spring onion till fragrant.
4. Pour the cooked garlic oil mixture onto the abalones. Serve

Home cooking and thinking of quick and wholesome recipes for the family? We had the opportunity to try out Hakubaku’s selection of soba, and came up with 2 yummy ways to have it SOBA SO GOOD!
First we have a scallion oil and minced meat soba, which pairs great with Hakubak’s organic soba. I personally would recommend adding generous servings of minced meat. Then our second recipe is a classic favourite of Tempura Cha Soba - the batter is easy to make, and yields a nice result for the family.
