Photo Diary: 2

This was taken on one of the first nights in Indonesia. At the hostel we had met some locals who said they knew of a great beach for sunset snorkelling.

It was about a 30 minute walk through a forest of palm trees and a small fishing villageS.

When we reached the beach there was nobody there, no locals or tourists. The sun had begun to sink towards the horizon.

We swam with the two local guides. The water reflected pinks and reds, while shards of yellow broke through the surface creating majestic rays that danced with the waves.

As the sun descended below the horizon the sky was painted with a vibrant coat of purple. We left the water and stood starring beyond the sea and towards the volcanoes of Bali.

When I took this photo I remember thinking "this is exactly where I want to be, this is exactly what I want to do and no matter how bad things may get I can always find an escape in nature and travel".

That thought has stayed with me and I think I am less stressed about my actions because of it. If things get really bad, if I really mess up, I can still get lost in a sunset, I can still find happiness with a simple day's end.

A song about waiting for spring to come and the changes that it will bring. Used in some schools as a graduation song.

The scenery is a bit colorless, but I think it fits since the lyrics say that the trees are just starting to bud, and not blooming yet. This is what March 9th looks like in my neighborhood :)
