普普風柯林頓肖像~

美國首府華盛頓特區（Washington D.C.）有各式各樣的美術館及博物館，這棟位在鬧區，隸屬史密斯松尼恩學會（Smithsonian Institute） 的古典建築裡，藏著兩個美術館：國立肖像藝廊（National Portrait Gallery）和美國藝術美術館（American Art Muaeum）。

肖像藝廊裡最特別者就是美國歷任總統肖像室（Presidential Portraits），其中顯現的不只是每個時代的領袖符徵，還述說美國社會與文化的改變，當然也可從中觀察出藝術潮流和趨勢。

比如2001年卸任的柯林頓，就被藝術家Chunk Close取材自2005年紐約雜誌（New York Magazine）的封面照片，以巨幅畫面和抽象幾何色塊組合拼貼成普普風格。還有前任總統歐巴馬夫妻，更是挑選非裔藝術家以新穎手法呈現自我形象（這部分接下來會再詳細介紹），在在都顯示了老掉牙肖像畫可被賦予的當代性與可能性。

你想想，要是開國元勳華盛頓（George Washington）、傑佛遜（Thomas Jefferson）等人，當初可以這樣玩嗎？
