We all know if in difficult time like this, being popular does not just mean living a rich, lavish lifestyle anymore; but being some of the world’s largest advocates for our society today. What we have, be it in the form of financial and technical assistance, or skills and expertise, we must share. So if all we have is our social presence, we need to use it to the best of our knowledge. That, my friend, is what being socially responsible really means.
The illusion that celebrities are just like us is especially intoxicating now that so many of us are grounded in our homes, stymied by a virus that doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, famous or obscure. Therefore, this issue was inspired by the impact and implications of their actions during self-isolation.

To Our Leica Family,
Here at Leica, our philosophy can be summarized in two words: Das Wesentliche - a focus on the essentials. As we navigate through these challenging times which impact how we see and interact with our world, we are reminded of the true meaning of our ethos, a focus on what is truly essential - the health and well-being of our community. As such, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our stores and galleries across the country to do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As of March 20th, we will also temporarily close our Customer Care Service Center, Online Store, and our Corporate Offices.

The 36th volume of Fooding Magazine (《好吃》雜誌) is published today! You could find in it my latest article “Instagram rules? The impact of social media on French pastry industry”. This is a topic that really interests me and an issue that every pastry chef in our times must deal with in day to day life. Instagram has truly changed our way of appreciating pastries (or probably all art works). Moreover, it affects how pastry chefs create pastries. While visual presentation seems to out-weigh taste, how do pastry chefs react? I’ve been thinking to elaborate on the above question for a long while. Many thanks to the editor for giving me such a chance to write with such freedom.
The current issue of the magazine features on the herbs in Taiwan. It presents in detail the diverties and various usages and functions of herbs in our daily life. I am really impressed by the in-depth content as well as the beautiful photography that has truthfully depicts the local spirit. The present issue also include the column of Hui-Ling Yu, one of my favorite food writers in Taiwan, which talks about rice, spices, and her memories related to them. All in all, it’s a wonderful work worth being included in your bookshelf. But instead, truths, personal empowerment, and freedom are harder than ever to attain, and we often find ourselves in an echo chamber for violence, injustice, and the pitfalls of capitalism.
Amazing JIRO, special effects and body paint artist teams up with Jon Boogz, director and choreographer for NO STRINGS to share a compelling and striking visual narrative about emancipating ourselves to incite social change.

Amazing JIRO - After graduating Tokyo University of the Arts and entering the world of special effect makeup, JIRO established JUR Co., Ltd.
Currently, JIRO works not only as special effects makeup artist but also as a creative director in film, drama, TVCM, and other fields. His power of expression and solid techniques are highly praised by people in and out of Japan. JIRO is attracting attention as a reformer of face paint, SFX makeup, and art.
After winning 2 championships at TV TOKYO TV Champion – Special Effect Makeup Artists Championship, JIRO became a certified champion. He was also introduced as one of the “Make-up Around the World: the Global Family of Artists on Make-Up Magazine,” which is read in more than 70 countries.
He creates artwork with advanced painting techniques and is attracting the world with his powerful ideas and quality works.
Jon Boogz is a movement artist, choreographer, and director who seeks to push the evolution of what dance can be – sharing with audiences of all backgrounds an appreciation of the melding of art forms while inspiring and bringing awareness to social issues.
Originally motivated to dance by the work of Michael Jackson, Boogz has choreographed for notable icons including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Naomi Campbell, Gloria Estefan; for Pharrell’s Adidas Originals HU Campaign to creative direct, choreography, and perform in Standing Rock at ComplexCon; and as creative consultant for ads launching campaigns for Apple and Lexus. Boogz’s collaborators include TriBeCa Film Festival, DAIS, Lil Buck, and Flying Lotus; his choreography is used in FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance”; Cirque du Soleil’s MJ ONE; he was featured at the Geffen Playhouse’s “Backstage at the Geffen” with his dance company Control Freakz, Lil Buck, and spoken word artist Robin Sanders; and at TED Vancouver’s TED Prize session.
Boogz wrote, choreographed, directed and danced in Color of Reality, a short film in collaboration with visual artist Alexa Meade. The work continues to receive coverage internationally and won Great Big Story’s Art as Impact Award; Best Experimental at Toronto International Short Film Festival; and Concept Video of the Year from World of Dance, among others. His forthcoming projects seek to merge movement with fine art, film, technology, and the stage.
