路透社報導，根據太陽能產業協會 (Solar Energy Industries Association，SEIA) 和風電產業研究機構 Wood Mackenzie 的研究報告，2021 年第一季，美國太陽能光電 (PV) 系統裝機量年增 46%，達到 5GW 以上。報告預計，2021 年美國太陽能裝機量有望增加 24.4GW，較 2020 年大增近 24%。

報導指出，上述數據顯示出，電廠營運商及企業對減碳的關注度大大提升，加上太陽能技術成本下降，使太陽能發電具有足夠競爭力，與傳統化石燃料發電一較高下。
