I reviewed a conversation I had with @drlisachan , who is in the process of writing her book on her perceptions of "Beauty." I thought I'd share a snippet as we cap a thoughtful week.
Dr. Lisa Chan:
What values do you live by that shape your everyday decisions?
Me:
I would say my top three values are: Integrity-- doing the right thing regardless of whether or not people are there to see it; A genuine care for others-- enough to be honest with them, whether it makes them happy or not; And sheer hard work. Talent is nothing without hard work and perseverance.
My perception of success has evolved from winning people's approval, to knowing I make decisions based on my values, regardless of whether people understand them or not. If your choices reflect your values, that's success on its own.
I find beauty in inner calm and peace. It's about balance and internal alignment— when what you say and what you think is aligned with what you do and how you feel.
