This is me demonstrating what it feels like to run a fitness business during MCO.

RTS Malaysia was really getting warmed up. Three successful intakes down, and our delivery of the workshop was evolving nicely into the true foundational education experience we intended: to show coaches the level of information out there that they could be using to better their craft. And now, we’re completely cut off from providing the all-important practical element to the course 😔
-
Weekly PT sessions on @joompa were at an all-time high 📈 and now we’re operating at 10% capacity 📉
-
I’m not so deluded to think that I know enough about the virus to have an opinion on what the best solution truly is. I do know that the current state of affairs is destroying decades worth of hard work for a lot of people and it’s very difficult to watch 🥺 Like it or not, getting “the jab” seems to be the solution to stop that happening (or at least slow the bleeding).
-
I’m grateful that Joompa’s model was built to be capable of weathering this storm, and I hope that anyone in the industry who shares my passion for improving people’s fitness manages to stay afloat as well, somehow 🙏🏽
-
Plenty of people have given up the personal training profession recently to move into other business - and no judgement (or surprise) given the climate we find ourselves in 🌪 If you were a PT in the first place because it seemed easy, maybe e-commerce or something is a better option for you anyway. But if you’re a coach or a trainer who is genuinely dedicated to bettering the lives of those who place their faith, time and energy in you… I hope you find a way to stick around.
-
I’m pretty sure what awaits us on the other side will be worth it 💪🏽

👭⚾ “Doing sports isn’t about getting gold medals. It’s about becoming a better person.” – Liu Po-chun, first woman in Taiwan to become a major league baseball umpire, and State Department Sports Mentor.
Last Saturday AIT-supported Taiwan Women Sports Association (TWSA) held its second Gender Equality in Sports workshop at the Kaohsiung Main Library. Apart from TWSA Director Liu Bo Chun, media figures Chi Hailun and Richard Wang, as well as Chinese Taipei Skating Union Secretary-General May Wu shared the current state and prospects for women participating in sports on the international stage. More than 40 people from southern Taiwan attended this event. AIT/K Public Affairs Officer Julius Tsai provided welcome remarks to support the event and thank the two good friends of AIT and State Department Sports Mentors Liu Bo Jun and Tzeng Yu-hsien for organizing this workshop for the public.
Many distinguished guests were also in attendance, including Legislator Liu Shyh-Fang, Kaohsiung City Councilor Kuo Chien-Meng, Kaohsiung Sports Development Bureau Director Hou Tsun-Yao, and Kaohsiung Association for the Promotion of Women's Right Director Hsu Nai-dan and Chiang Wan-Ssu. Those present promised to keep fighting for more female-friendly sports facilities in Taiwan. This two-hour seminar allowed people in southern Taiwan to have a chance to understand the importance of gender equality in sports. Join us in supporting women from Taiwan in playing an impactful role in international sports organizations!

#Editorial AppleDailyTW|"The antagonism between the U.S. and China is difficult to resolve in the short term, and it is not yet at its worst. Taiwan is one of the elements in the opposition between the U.S. and China, and the confrontation between the two powers is both a risk and an opportunity for Taiwan. However, unlike the previous Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, which was a combination of capitalist and communist ideologies, in the current confrontation between the U.S. and China, both sides are at the height of patriotism and nationalism. The issue of Taiwan covers all the most sensitive areas, and there are many subtle details that are not understood or cared about by the international community. Therefore, if Taiwan is to ensure its own safety and interests, it must strengthen its own power and role. The principles must be firm, our mind must be clear, and our strategies and gestures must stay flexible. It is not easy to have any of the above four qualities, but Taiwan must manage to joggle them all. Following instructions, Chiu Tai-san proposed “constructive ambiguity.” Although the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council commented coldly and said it’s “wordplay without sincerity,” it is still an indicator worthy of follow-up observation."

PTT is one of the most open social media platforms in the Chinese language. Though it’s not more populous than Facebook, it’s arguably more impactful than Facebook here in Taiwan. It’s a reflection of Taiwan's spirited democracy, and it’s used heavily as a source for local journalists.
We speak with two INDSR researchers on a year-long project, “A Pilot Study on PTT in the Context of Influence Operations” (批踢踢影響力作戰前導研究)which attempts to identify CCP state actors on the platfor. The researchers are Oddis J.F. Tsai (Policy Analyst at the Division of Defense Strategy and Resources) and Dr. Jui-Ming Hung (Assistant Research Fellow at the Division of Defense Strategy and Resources).
The paper lays out mechanics and - through quantitative analysis - identifies types of suspect behavior on the world’s largest non-commercial, forum-based, open-source online bulletin board system in the Chinese language. This interview was recorded in January 2021 after the paper was published by INDSR.
Today’s host is J.R. Wu - a non-resident advisor at INDSR (Institute for National Defense and Security Research) in Taiwan. Wu is a former journalist with nearly two decades of media experience in the US and Asia. She has led news bureaus for Reuters and Dow Jones.

Currently, Chactuchak Weekend Market has very few customers.
Before the April holidays, the market was lively again with many young people and families visiting.
However, with the tightening of regulations, the number of customers has decreased.
Many of the stores have closed or some have closed their doors.
According to NEWS, rent is still the same as before, so many stores are in trouble.

The state of #cannabis in Taiwan with the country’s only lawyer who only takes on cannabis-related cases.
In 2020, she ran for a seat in the parliament on the platform of legalizing medical marijuana. She’s currently deputy secretary general of the Green Party in Taiwan. In March 2021, Ms. LEE won “Best Show Host” at the inaugural KKBOX Podcasts Awards for her podcast on cannabis, “In The Weeds with Lawyer Zoe Lee #大麻煩不煩,” produced by Ghost Island Media
Marijuana remains a taboo in Taiwan. It’s a Class-2 narcotics. That’s the same class as meth. Possession over 20 grams can get you 5 years to life time in jail.
There is a movement for #CannabisLegalization here in Taiwan, and Ms. Zoe is a key person leading it. The global legal marijuana market, by one estimate, is predicted to be at 65 Billion USD by 2027. Cannabis is a global trend, and this is The Taiwan Take.
