「Urban」一詞是 1970 年代廣播所創的音樂分類，風格包括了嘻哈、R&B、靈魂樂、RAP 等各種黑人音樂風格，雖然本身不具貶義，但之後所有黑人音樂家所創作的音樂，都被歸類在「Urban」音樂當中，也嚴重的貶低了近年嘻哈、靈魂樂、R&B 對於音樂創作所帶來的巨大影響。
