While it should come as no surprise that I’m an ardent Disney fan, what might surprise many of you is which Disney Princess I have in my earliest childhood memories!
It’s not Cinderella, Snow White or even Belle!
It’s actually Ariel from The Little Mermaid! 🧜♀️
It was the first Disney movie my beloved mommy brought me to see at the cinema and she even got me all the original (and I should add not so child-friendly) books by Hans Christian Andersen.
While I really related to Ariel's curiosity about the big wide world, it was her strength that struck me the most! She was willing to give up her voice for what she believed in, confident that her actions would speak louder than her words and she would still be able to connect with her love.
I feel these messages are more important now than they have ever been, it’s easy to be afraid and withdraw from the rest of the world, but I for one love to explore and see the beauty of the world, all the different cultures and traditions! And even if we don’t all speak the same language, kindness is universal!
It all makes this charming Ariel charm from Pandora's DISNEY PRINCESSES COLLECTION all the more special to me and I find her tagging along on my modern-day adventures, on my uniform, pencil case and even handbag! Keep swiping for photos!
In the famous words of Sebastian the crab, what a soft shell I’m turning out to be! 🦀

In this excerpt from an interview with @littlemonkeyhk , I share one of the connections between Music and Math: Pattern Recognition (also Pattern Awareness).
For children in the early years, recognising and responding to patterns is a key developmental skill. It allows children to predict and anticipate what happens next in a sequence, which allows them to participate in logical reasoning and critical thinking.
Patterns are part of our daily lives more than we can imagine— from dancing some steps, to riding a bike, to following a recipe in the kitchen.
Participating in simple nursery rhymes— and integrating our mind and bodies in the process— reinforce the understanding of these patterns, and prepare our brains for these functions for the rest of our lives.
If this sounds like a bundle of confusing theories, watch this video (and the rest of the interview) to see how these concepts translate to your child’s daily life.
Remember— you are your child’s most important teacher. We are here to share the concepts of learning, but ultimately— you would know how to creatively incorporate these in ways that matter to your family.
Do tell me how this fits in yours!

I don’t post much about Groove Thang but I really should. Here is a raw clip from KLCC Wednesday class. I’ve been having a lot of fun dancing with this bunch. All smiles, always a party. Groove Thang is the only class that has a 100% success rate of lifting my mood no matter what. It is also a beginners friendly, party grooves class where I get to meet and dance with people from all walks of life. I then get to convert them to dance fans. It’s very exciting and fulfilling. They are also people who come and stay for the music selection which makes me feel very very cool. Playlist/mix played in class is mainly 90s/2000s R&B and some Hip Hop. Sometimes we do soul, disco, a lil funk. Sometimes my students shares music with me! I love the spirit of Groove Thang. I can’t wait to be back teaching Groove Thang again. In the meantime, @donnaholiwod will be teaching Groove Thang via Zoom. First class happening this evening at 6pm. More info on @babel.dance highlights.
If you need a blast of good vibes for you and or family/housemates/partner, this is it. Child friendly. Age, dance level, emotional capacity. Come as you are.
