Focus on long term goal, not a 14days-get-abs / 30days-loose-10kg kinda goal. Coming to 5th year of my #oalfitnessjourney , my body change all the time. In the next few photos, are the #inbody test that I took in 2019 and 2021. Two years apart, body weight didn’t change much, muscle mass increased by only 0.6kg, fat mass dropped by 1.4kg.
My goal is to gradually increase my BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate
Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories required to keep your body functioning at rest. BMR is also known as your body's metabolism.
I remember when I first started workout, my BMR was around 1200+ Kcal, in 2019 : 1438 Kcal, 2021 : 1465 Kcal.
Q: How to increase BMR?
A: When you exercise, you use muscle. This helps build muscle mass, and muscle tissue burns more calories -- even when you're at rest -- than body fat. According to Wharton, 10 pounds of muscle would burn 50 calories in a day spent at rest, while 10 pounds of fat would burn 20 calories.
That is why I can eat like how I am eating. This take time, that’s why I don’t want to go for losing fat strict diet (or not eating) to obtain lean body, it may affect your metabolism. It may lower the metabolism. Hence, constantly you will need to reduce your intake of food to look lean. I love my FOOD too much to sacrifice them.
Some of the pictures I may look bulk and big, sometimes I look leaner, there’s always many reason to it. Maybe I just did weight training that day, or it’s the angle. Therefore, best is to look into the mirror, you know yourself best. Always take a photo once a month of your full body in sports attire, monitor your progress. Mirrors don’t lie.

My secret for this physique.
.
The truth is my fitness life isn't all about that six pack abs cutting and those fat burning tabata workouts.
.
In fact, 80% of my training are made in the gym, where the other 20% is bodyweight and cardio that helps me to sustain my endurance, and extra calorie burn for me to stay ripped.
.
To be honest, without gym training and without undergoing any "Bulk" phase in my fitness regime, I can say it is almost impossible for me to maintain/grow this steroid-like physique (#noimnotonsteroidsbutthanksforasking), because as a typical chinese, we are genetically "small" *sad*.
.
So here's how it work.
.
I will "Bulk" my body about 1-2 times in a year. This is where I'll bump up my calories intake for greater muscle growth and overall recovery.
.
I would normally do my Bulk during early of the year (winter and big festive season), and the other best time for me to Bulk is around my birthday time (Aug), because without much effort these seasons are the time we will indulge more food.
.
My gym routine pretty consistent. I train pretty much everything from @theironmastery. Whether I'm Cutting or Bulking, I will always challenge myself to train as heavy as I could without breaking my lifting form. Except I'll do higher volume when I'm on a Bulk compare to other times, thanks to higher calorie consumption.

Cardio wise. I will still do cardio like 2-3 times a week. This keeps me productive, and it helps to me to stay lean during my Bulk (take note that it's common gain some fat when you are Bulking). I can easily make a come back to that "ripped" mode without undergoing some extreme Cutting program that will put my body in a risk of losing too much of muscles... And that's why I'm always lean 365.

PS. If you are a beginner, you are probably a little confuse about whether you should Bulk or Cut right now. You want to start your fitness journey to achieve the best physique of your own, but you wasn't sure what is the first thing you should do, and what is the right way to train. Question: Hi Jordan, everyday I spend 30 mins training my Abs for many months already but why my waist and belly still so big?
Answer: Doing hundreds or thousands of Crunches everyday won’t help you to burn fats, unless you do like 20,000+ reps of crunches nonstop! Then you'll burn like only 1 pound of fats but I think you'll break your neck and lower back after your training session.
Try to do something that that burn more calories like Weight-Lifting, Cardio training like Running or Bodyweight Circuit Training like 3-5 times a week.
Imo, the best and fastest way to trim your belly and love handle is to watch your food intake (sounds boring I know). Avoid all sugary beverages, stay away from oily foods and control your Carbs intake to nothing more than 2-3 servings a day (1 serving = 1 bowl). Eat good amount of Veggies and Protein like lean poultry and lean meats. They said Abs are made not only in the Gym but in the Kitchen... They are right.
You probably took many years-decades to gain those stubborn fats, you can't expect to get rid of them with just few weeks or few months of hardwork.

3 minutes of progressive body weight routine that can be done anywhere anytime.
Important note: Beginner modification is only for Beginner who just started exercising. If you are not, you should be doing my version and try to keep up with my pace... You will feel the burn! :)
Warming up your body before going all-out is crucial. I would recommend everyone to spend at least 5-10 minutes doing some dynamic warm up on light to moderate intensity. I would personally go through 1 round of this exercise routine with moderate effort before I start pushing myself hard. Doing the beginner modification routine for 1 round before your actual working set can be a good way to get ready too.
To get the best out of this routine. You should aim to complete around 3-5 rounds with less than 2 minutes rest in between each round... It's hard, I know... but hey, this is what makes us burn fat like crazy and grow! Isn't that why we are here at the first place? and someday the effort that you are doing right now could be your warm up in the future.
