SHOULD YOU QUIT YOUR JOB NOW?
“You have to help me quit my job!”
Even though the video was off, I could tell from Bria’s voice that she was in tears. This strong woman couldn’t keep herself together anymore.
“You’re experiencing strong emotions now. That’s very natural,” I said, wanting to help her feel safe and accepted.
After all, Bria and I had only met once in an event. Knowing that I was a coach, she reached out the next day to see if I could help.
If there’s anything I’ve learned from my years of coaching, it’s that when the person is emotional, you need to give them the space to feel it.
So as Bria sobbed, I stayed silent, feeling my belly rise and fall with each breath. After a short while, I could sense that her wave of emotion had passed.
“Shall we take one long easy breath together?” I asked.
I heard her breathing with me. I paused, allowing Bria the time to settle, then I asked her to tell me what’s so difficult to her about her job.
After listening to her sharing, I said: “I can definitely help you, Bria.” I heard a sigh of relief on the other end. “But only if you promise me you won’t quit your job yet.”
3 months after that conversation, Bria waltzed in my office one evening holding a bottle of red wine: “Let’s celebrate!”
She had a giddy grin on her face, the very special grin with a dimple that I’d come to love after many hours supporting her. “Oh! Is it okay for us to drink a glass of wine in our coaching session?” She asked.
I laughed: “Of course. What are we celebrating?”
Bria said, her face brightened even more: “I just realized today that I have the perfect job!”
The most fascinating thing about this story is that the “perfect job” she referred to was the exact same job she had practically begged me to help her quit.
Bria’s circumstances hadn’t changed. But her experiences of the circumstances had changed 180 degrees. Why? Because she did.
Bria’s story teaches me once again, that life is truly created from the inside out.

You know the sayings:
Fine wine, it gets better with age.
The older the wiser.
And maybe you haven’t heard these yet:
Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative. - Maurice Chevalier
It’s true. We’re lucky to be able to grow old. It means that we’ve lived a long and hopefully fulfilling life. We’ve made mistakes, but also had time to learn from those mistakes. We’ve loved and lost. We’ve laughed until we’ve paid our pants. We’ve peed our pants and laughed.
Growing old isn’t something to be afraid of. To me, it’s something to be treasured.
I was raised by my grandmother and seeing my mom with my children now, it really touches my heart. We learn so much from not only our elders but also the generations below us. While the older generations have so many stories and experiences to share and guide us, the younger generations have passion, energy and curiosity which inspire us.
Make sure to make the most of your life by preparing for the future.

It’s Sunday
let’s have some 🥃 whisky
Having a glass of whiskey with tasty food can make you feel appetizing and add a touch of flavor to your meal.
Not only that, but whiskey can also have a good match with paintings. It can bring you fabulous experiences of both visual and taste. While you are enjoying the smoothness of whiskey, you can also feel the power of calligraphy and painting. Especially in this busy city, this event can let you feel relax and enjoy art. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Viva España! Think you have explored Spain already? Check out these epic experiences to get to know the country’s traditions even better.
Tradition tells us to favor wine, drunk from a porrón, a glass bottle which resembles a small watering can. A porró is a traditional Catalonian wine pitcher – and it’s a great way to share a bottle. You can pass the bottle around without it touching anyone’s lips – but it takes a bit of skill to get it in your mouth! You’ll be sure to encounter the tradition when visiting some of the best destinations around the country: https://theculturetrip.com/europe/spain/articles/the-15-best-destinations-to-visit-in-spain-in-2018/
Celebrated each year in the small town of Castrillo de Murcia, the Salto del Colacho is a week-long celebration which culminates with a man dressed as a devil terrorising locals and jumping over babies. Controversial as far as the Catholic Church is concerned, the celebration is believed to cleanse the new-borns of their original sin. Read more about this festival here

One of the world’s most unusual food fights takes place every December in a small Spanish town near Alicante. It starts when one group of locals takes over the town and enforces bizarre laws – anyone caught breaking them pays a fine which is donated to charity. These are seven unmissable experiences you need to try in Japan. Marvel at amezaiku (the art of candy crafting) in Tokyo, un-wine-d in a giant pool of vino at the Yunessun Spa Resort in Hakone or check out the Kakunodate Fire and Snow Festival in Akita prefecture.
Home to both futuristic robots and centuries-old shrines, Japan seamlessly blends the old with the new. Here are four experiences you need to cross off your list when visiting.
Around Lunar New Year, in January or February, a snowy corner of Akita prefecture hosts the Hiburi Kamakura Festival, the Fire and Snow Festival. The event, which marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring, involves the welcoming of good spirits, or kami. During the first part of the Hiburi Kamakura Festival, a shrine is constructed in the spirits’ honour, and is decorated with offerings and good luck charms. As the night goes on, a bonfire is lit, and bales of hay and charcoal are tied up with lengths of straw rope. Those participating in the Hiburi dance prepare by wrapping their hair in headscarves and slipping their hands into protective gloves, to stop them from getting singed. Visiting stuffy old temples may not seem like the most exciting activity for kids to do, but there are thousands of fascinating temples and shrines in Japan. Gotokuji, for example, is one of the luckiest temples in Tokyo as it is the birthplace of maneki-neko. Gotokji is home to over 10,000 of these cat figurines, which are believed to bring good luck. A classic maneki-neko looks like a Japanese bobtail cat with a calico coat, but the friendly feline now comes in all types and colours. Typically, one or both paws are raised. They are often called ‘waving cats’ in English because of the position of the paw, but in Japan, this gesture, with the palm facing down, is used to beckon someone towards you. Others see a cat raising a paw to wash itself. For more about cats in Tokyo, read: https://theculturetrip.com/asia/japan/articles/this-is-why-you-need-to-visit-tokyos-cat-town/.
Japan has a reputation for innovation, and that extends to its food and desserts. The traditional candy craft of amezaiku blurs the line between food and art. Using hot, malleable taffy, candy artisans, known as ame shokunin, bring these sugar sculptures to life with colour, shape and texture. To get acquainted with this art form, visit: https://theculturetrip.com/asia/japan/articles/amezaiku-traditional-japanese-sugar-sculpture/.
How about unwinding in a giant pool of wine at Yunessun Spa Resort in Hakone? Yes, you read that right. Merlot lovers have a new way of enjoying their favourite tipple. But if wine isn't your thing, don’t worry. You can take a dip in coffee, green tea or sake instead!
