God’s hand is all over Esther’s story of promotion from an ordinary Jewish orphan girl, to the queen of the mighty Persian empire.

To replace Vashti, a beauty pageant was to be prepared and conducted, to see which young woman would win the king’s heart.

“So it came about when the king’s command and his decree were proclaimed and when many young women were gathered together in the citadel of Susa into the custody of Hegai, that Esther was taken to the king’s palace [and placed] in the custody of Hegai, who was in charge of the women. Now the young woman pleased Hegai and found favor with him. So he quickly provided her with beauty preparations and her [portion of] food, and he gave her seven choice maids from the king’s palace; then he transferred her and her maids to the best place in the harem.” ‭‭(ESTHER‬ ‭2:8-9‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

Many young women were entered into the pageant, the competition was intense. With so many beautiful women gathered together in the same space, tensions, jealousy and envy must have burned at an all-time high.

However, the Bible does not depict Esther as being caught up in any drama or palace politics.

It feels like she just minded her own business and was restful about the whole thing.

The favor that she received from the eunuch Hegai appears to be supernatural too—God’s hand in this is evident in the “seven choice maids”, as 7 is the number of God’s perfection.

Are you in a situation where there are lots of competitors, many of them just as talented as you, and you need an edge over them?

Rely on God to grant you favor like He did for Esther.
God can turn the heart of a person of influence in your favor if you will trust in Him.

I personally believe that Esther was a believer in the God of Israel, that she would have prayed for her needs.

She would most likely have prayed for God’s favor in the beauty pageant, and her faith in His provision can explain why she never seems to participate in any scheming or politicking.

Look at the opulent way in which each young woman in the beauty pageant was prepared for the king:

“Now when it was each young woman’s turn to go before King Ahasuerus, after the end of her twelve months under the regulations for the women--for the days of their beautification were completed as follows: six months with oil of myrrh and six months with [sweet] spices and perfumes and the beauty preparations for women-- then the young woman would go before the king in this way: anything that she wanted was given her to take with her from the harem into the king’s palace. In the evening she would go in and the next morning she would return to the second harem, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of the concubines. She would not return to the king unless he delighted in her and she was summoned by name.” ‭‭(ESTHER‬ ‭2:12-14‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

12 is the number of covenant relationship (twelve tribes of Israel, twelve disciples of Jesus) and 6 is the number of man (Man was made on the sixth day of creation, and 666 represents a man [antichrist] in his most depraved form, alienated from God’s nature).

In our covenant relationship with God (12-month beautification process), we depend on His favor, but that doesn’t mean that we do nothing and just sit there waiting for God to drop what we need from the sky.

There’s still a part where we have to walk, believing that His favor will flow in our lives as we are on the go.
His favor causes what we do to prosper and succeed.

Hence, the 6 months of oil of myrrh and 6 months of perfume.

Depending on God’s favor doesn’t mean that you only wait for the supernatural and miraculous and totally abandon the natural.

Esther still went through the beautification process like everybody else.

I’m sure she didn’t say “God is on my side and will grant me favor to win even without all this. I’m not even going to bathe or brush my teeth to prove that it’s all God’s favor!”

No, God can also use natural things to accomplish His purposes. The key is to be led by the Holy Spirit—do what He tells us to do. That’s godly wisdom.

So please carry on brushing your teeth, using moisturizer, whatever beauty products, and if your doctor has prescribed you medicine, carry on taking it unless God has clearly spoken to you that you don’t need to.

Now, read the following passage carefully because it reveals Esther’s secret of receiving God’s favor:

“Now as for Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai who had taken her in as his [own] daughter, when her turn came to go in to the king, she requested nothing except what Hegai the king’s eunuch [and attendant] who was in charge of the women, advised. And Esther found favor in the sight of all who saw her. So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus, to his royal palace in the tenth month, that is, the month of Tebeth (Dec-Jan), in the seventh year of his reign. Now the king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she found favor and kindness with him more than all the [other] virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen in the place of Vashti.” ‭‭(ESTHER‬ ‭2:15-17‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

The name of Esther’s father Abihail means “The Father is Might”.
Esther relied on God as her might. She didn’t request for anything except for what Hegai the king’s eunuch advised.

In this part of Esther’s story, the eunuch represents the Holy Spirit.
True sons of God are led by the Holy Spirit and not by the Law which requires their own strength and ability.

Esther didn’t rely on her own smarts or understanding, but fully trusted in God to grant her favor:

“Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

By submitting to God’s authority, she was demonstrating true humility, qualifying her to receive grace:

“Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.” ‭‭(Proverbs‬ ‭3:34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Esther’s original name is “Hadassah” which means myrtle. The myrtle flower is star-shaped, having five petals.

The name she received later on, Esther, means star.

By relying on God’s favor, the star on earth (myrtle) was elevated to the heavens—from a common foreigner, to royalty in the palace!

In Chinese culture, we love to hear palace stories about how the protagonist goes through storms in life with lots of drama, using his or her intelligence and skills to defeat evil and attain happiness.

Such stories inspire us and make us feel like that person truly deserves the happiness that he or she received in the end.

This is fleshly because it champions man’s own abilities and methods. Oftentimes, such protagonists use underhand strategies that God would frown upon.

However, Esther’s story shows us that it is still possible for a story to be restful, smooth-sailing and still wonderfully inspiring.
It was none of her own smarts or efforts, and all of God’s favor.

You may begin as a star-shaped flower on earth, but when you rely on God’s grace (unmerited favor), the Lord will greatly exalt you in the sight of all—you become a rising star in the heavens to shine for His glory!

Meaning of the name “Agur”: Collector/ Gatherer/ Assembler.

Meaning of the name “Jakeh”: Pious.

Meaning of the name “Ithiel”: God is with me.

Meaning of the name “Ucal”: To be able/ To have power.

Put the four names together and you get the understanding of why the Holy Spirit included their names in Proverbs 30:
The Pious Collector is writing these words of wisdom for us so that in studying these, God will be with us to enable us and give us His power.

Only God the Father has done this together with Jesus.
God the Father descended to earth on Mount Sinai when the Ten Commandments were given.
He created the world.
His Son’s name is Jesus.

“Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name? Certainly you know!” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:4‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

God’s word is reliable and you can trust in His promises. When you do, He will protect you.

“Every word of God is tested and refined [like silver]; He is a shield to those who trust and take refuge in Him.” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

These two things are essential for letting God’s power flow unconstricted in our lives:
1) Don’t lie, and avoid associating with liars.
2) Focus on Jesus and not on material wealth - He will definitely supply you with the provision that you need.

“Two things I have asked of You; Do not deny them to me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, So that I will not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the LORD?” Or that I will not be poor and steal, And so profane the name of my God.” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:7-9‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

This sounds like the current state of society.
What strikes me most is that they are pure in their own eyes, but they are actually not washed from their sins.
This generation needs to know Jesus. He is the only way to true purity.

“There is a generation (class of people) that curses its father And does not bless its mother. There is a generation (class of people) that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. There is a generation (class of people)--oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are raised in arrogance. There is a generation (class of people) whose teeth are like swords And whose jaw teeth are like knives, To devour the afflicted from the earth And the needy from among men.” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:11-14‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

This is the fate of unbelievers: The worms/leeches and the unquenchable fire in the lake of fire are never satisfied and will never say “it is enough”.
They will just torture those who died in their sins for eternity - what a tragic fate!

“The leech has two daughters, “Give, give!” There are three things that are never satisfied, Four that do not say, “It is enough”: Sheol, and the barren womb, Earth that is never satisfied with water, And fire that never says, “It is enough.”” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:15-16‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

The Law is a servant whereas Jesus is the son. When believers exalt the Law above Grace (Jesus), the earth quakes for it knows the truth that the balance is upset.
A fool is destined for poverty. Only the wise will receive true and lasting riches.
“Unloved woman” is ”hateful woman” in NKJV.
When a woman is still un-virtuous, she is not ready to be a wife. She needs to learn the qualities of a virtuous wife in Proverbs 31.
Hagar (Sarah’s maidservant) and Sarah (Abraham’s wife) represent Law and Grace respectively.
When believers treat the Law as better and above Grace, that’s when tragedy happens to them.

“Under three things the earth is disquieted and quakes, And under four it cannot bear up: Under a servant when he reigns, Under a [spiritually blind] fool when he is filled with food, Under an unloved woman when she gets married, And under a maidservant when she supplants her mistress.” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:21-23‬ ‭AMP‬)

If you have done this, then put a stop to it immediately because there is no escaping the consequence of letting your anger get the better of you.
Anger itself is not sin, but it is a powerful emotion that can drive you to commit sin.
To let God’s power flow unconstricted in your life, you need to meditate on God’s word and listen to Jesus-centered sermons.
That way you will become a wise person with a calm spirit and true self-control.

“If you have foolishly exalted yourself, Or if you have plotted evil, put your hand on your mouth. Surely the churning of milk produces butter, And wringing the nose produces blood; So the churning of anger produces strife.” ‭‭(PROVERBS‬ ‭30:32-33‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

今天1月3號，也就是農歷十一月十七日，也就是我們熟悉的阿彌陀佛的佛辰。

有句話說，家家彌陀戶戶觀音，阿彌陀如來和娑婆世間的眾生有非常深的因緣。而且根據我的根本傳承上師聖尊蓮生活佛法王，祂說最大的法是彌陀大法。而且淨土宗就是念佛法門，請不要小看這念佛法門，以為「噢，念佛我也會！小孩子也會！」

但我告訴你，念佛法門其實是很難的，因為它有一個口訣，你一定要一心不亂。

阿彌陀佛有四十八大願，祂的淨土是非常完美的，是佛國極樂淨土，是我們將來都要去的一個佛國淨土。這淨土還有分四層，從最底層的凡聖同居土，到常寂光土。

在阿彌陀佛的佛辰，妳你可以跟著以往吾所教妳你的去做。如果沒有數珠，可以坐在客廳、或者是書房的較高的椅子上，和沙發上，把雙手合掌恭唸佛號。但記得要先洗個臉、刷個牙、漱個口，最好可以先沐浴更衣，合掌恭唸7遍、21遍、49遍或108遍「南無阿彌陀佛」，或越多越好。有數珠，會更容易計數，使用時也有轉法輪的寓意。

將這些妳你所唸的佛號，迴向給妳你想要幫助的對象、自己或家人。妳你會發現到，所迴向的皆得圓滿，因為阿彌陀佛的願是最宏偉的。

南無觀世音菩薩頭頂著的那一尊佛，就是阿彌陀佛，也就是祂的根本傳承上師。

我們所行的，種種超度法，最終就是要將她他超度到阿彌陀佛的淨土。

可見阿彌陀佛是非常偉大的，而且這個法門是非常非常容易修的。雖然容易修，但是也有它的深度，妳你必須要一心不亂。千萬不要小看這法，它是一個很大的法。

好好的念佛，幫助妳你的家人以及自己，就在今天1月3日，農曆的十一月十七日，唸佛，在佛誕當天修祂的法，功德一百倍。

你也可以買一個蛋糕，供養阿彌陀如來。

祝大家念佛消業障、增福慧、家庭圓滿、事業圓滿、健康也圓滿、一切皆圓滿。阿彌陀佛。

Today, 3rd of January, also the 17th Day of the 11th Lunar Month, is the Holy Birthday of the Amitabha Buddha, one whom we are very familiar with.

There's a saying that every home has a Amitabha Buddha and every household has a Guan Yin Bodhisattva. The Amitabha Buddha has a deep affinity with the sentient beings in the Saha World. According to my Root Guru Master, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng, the Amitabha spiritual practice is the most supreme among all.

The Pure Land school of Buddhism propagates the Amitabha recitation practice. Please do not look down on this practice, and think, "Oh, I know how to chant the Buddha's name! Even a kid knows!"

But let me tell you, this practice is in fact very difficult because the key to its accomplishment lies in your ability to achieve the state of aviksipta-citta (a mind with no distractions).

Amitabha Buddha has 48 Great Vows. His Pure Land is very perfect, a Buddha country of ultimate bliss, the desired afterlife destination for us. This Pure Land has 4 levels, from the lowest "Land Where Sinners and Saints Dwell", to the highest "Land of Eternal Light".

On the Holy Birthday of Amitabha, you can practice what I have taught previously. You may sit on a chair or sofa in the living room or the study room, and recite His Name respectfully with your palms together. But do remember to wash your face, brush your teeth, rinse your mouth, and preferably take a bath and change into a fresh set of clothing. You may then recite His Name, Na Mo Ah Mi Tuo Fo (or Namo Amitabha), 7, 21, 49 or 108 times, the more the merrier.

You can then dedicate the merits from your recitation to help someone. This person could be yourself, or your family members. You will realise that your merits dedication will be fulfilled because the vows of Amitabha Buddha are most noble.

The Buddha sitting on the head dress of the Guan Yin Bodhisattva is Amitabha, His Root Guru.

The various deliverance practices we do have the ultimate objective of delivering the deceased to the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha.

This shows the greatness of the Amitabha Buddha. Furthermore, the Amitabha spiritual practice is extremely easy for beginners. However, there is depth to its practice. You must keep your mind undistracted and 100% focused.

Do not look down on this easy practice for it is a formidable one.

Put your heart and soul in reciting the Buddha's name, to help yourself and your family.

Doing the recitation on His holy birthday increase your merits by a hundred-fold. You can also buy a cake and make an offering to the Amitabha Buddha.

I wish for everyone to recite the Amitabha name to eradicate negative karma, to increase your merits and wisdom, to improve your family harmony, to boost your career and to your good health! May all be well and complete, Amituofo.
