Live Free from the Curse
“Yahweh says: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Yahweh. For he shall be like a bush in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, a salt land and not inhabited. “Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose confidence is in Yahweh. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:5-8 WEB)
When you trust in your arm of flesh, you are unable to receive God’s grace in your circumstances. You make Christ of no effect to you when you operate by the flesh instead of by the Spirit.
The cursed way is to be like Adam after the fall, cursed to eat bread by the sweat of his brow. The ground would sprout forth thorns and thistles, hindering the fruitfulness of what is sown.
Hard labor by the flesh and not by the anointing is the cursed way. “Nothing is going to happen if I don’t do it myself, so I will handle it on my own.” That is the mindset of one who trusts in his arm of flesh.
What is the difference between the “bush in the desert” and the “tree planted by the waters”? The answer is: the presence of water.
The cursed man does not care to receive and meditate on the water of God’s word, so he does not have the hope from God’s promises.
On the other hand, the blessed man is planted by the waters, constantly receiving and meditating on God’s word. He has strong faith and hope in God’s promises, and experiences fruitfulness, health, youth renewal, and provision.
“The farmer sows the word. The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them. These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy. They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble. Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word, and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.”” (Mark 4:14-20 WEB)
Why do you think the devil puts in so much effort to snatch the seed of God’s word from your heart? He deceives, distracts, intimidates, and tempts, all so that he can convince you to give up on God’s word.
It is because a person who allows God’s word to grow in his heart is the biggest threat to the demonic kingdom. A person who prays, loves, and preaches the Gospel destroys Satanic strongholds, yokes, and bondages, setting captives free.
Such a person’s life flourishes through God’s word, and enjoys hundredfold harvests of God’s blessing.
If the enemy can steer you away from receiving God’s word, he can keep you living in defeat. Let us see through his evil strategies and do the exact opposite: every day, receive the Gospel and hear about the gift of righteousness and the abundance of grace available to you through our Lord Jesus Christ. Saturate your mind and heart with the Gospel. This is one way you can silence the serpent in your life!
“Silencing the Serpent” is my ebook about spiritual warfare and how Christians can emerge victorious in it. You will discover the mighty spiritual weapons you have in Christ, and learn about the enemy’s strategies as well as how to counter them with Biblical truths. Expect long-time addictions, bondages, and patterns of defeat to be broken when you meditate on the truths in this book: https://bit.ly/silence-the-serpent-now

How is stay-home life with four kids like? Well, noisy, messy, chaotic and never a moment's peace. Even the baby has been joining in the chatter and the kids go "Awwww" every time he goes goo goo ga ga.
Yup, now that he is growing up fast and can interact more, he has been promoted to his first ever high chair! Woohoo. We are loving the Cocoon High Chair from Love Oribel and I totally love this beautiful Blue Raspberry Marshmallow colour that the kids chose for him.
With 3 recline positions and 6 height adjustments, the high chair is suitable for infants and grows with them to become a full-fledged high chair. I love how the baby can sit beside us at the dinner table these days even though he is not able to eat yet.
It allows me to keep an eye on him while I cook in the kitchen and keeping me in sight makes him less prone to crying too. If he falls asleep, I just recline the seat and it becomes a lounger for him. How convenient, right?
This might be one of the biggest high chairs we've had but it is also the strongest and sturdiest too. Despite the size, it has a foldable design and tucks away neatly in a corner. Besides a large detachable tray, it also features a compact food and cup holder so you can interchange according to needs. These are all easy to clean and so is the seat pad, which is a huge relief for me. Phew.
I can't wait to see what adventures lie ahead of this little one and hopefully he will be a good eater like his siblings. I bet they will be enthusiastic to feed him like how they were in setting up this high chair. To more updates soon.

P.S. Noise and mess aside, staying home with these darlings and watching them grow day by day is also a great blessing and the most fulfilling journey in my life. ❤

All throughout my life, we as a family have been through lots of ups and downs, but the biggest test was my mother’s health. But I am beyond blessed in that Allah has showered upon me blessing after blessing after blessing - so much so that it managed to soothe my mother’s illness in a way. And that’s my biggest contentment - not the fact that I managed to achieve all those things, but that I managed to make my parents proud, because I am nobody without my parents! Yes, this Omar Mukhtar will only be just Omar Mukhtar without my beloved Mrs Mom and Mr Dad - my pillars of strength!
But behind this Omar Mukhtar is not only his parents. I am super blessed with a super loving little brother and sister, Fatimah and Ali, my grandparents, my uncles and my aunties, my cousins and my big family. We are blessed to have each other.
Other than my own family, I am also blessed with supportive friends. I’m glad that my circle of friends is not competing to be number 1, stepping on one another to be at the top, but we help each other become number 1 together. I’m fortunate to have them in my life cos we all keep inspiring one another towards goodness. We don’t just look out for number 1, but encourage each other in everything we do.
For example, the other night, within less than an hour after TEDx posted my talk on their Youtube channel, my friend instantly sent me a snapshot. Even though he’s not a TED fan, he took time to watch my talk and not only motivated me with his kind words, but celebrated with me. And that’s just one example; there are many more who were together with me all throughout my journey.
And of course, there’s you! Yes, each and every one of you who is reading this. I am also blessed to have all of you who always support me tirelessly. I can’t possibly thank all of you enough for your kindness and support. Only The Almighty could reward you enough.
Above all, behind this Omar Mukhtar are also his amazing teachers. I have been blessed with great teachers all throughout my school life. This is one of the many examples of the kind-heartedness of my teachers. Immediately after I finished my TEDx Talk, this teacher - who doesn’t actually even teach me in the first place - sent me an email to congratulate me for it. And the title of the email? "WOW!"
I mean, what more do you want from a teacher? The title is more than enough! And the whole event hadn’t even finished, yet here he was already emailing me about our next project. I couldn’t have asked for more. I am truly humbled by his support, and I’m very blessed to be surrounded with such enthusiastic teachers like him.
I don’t think I ever would have gotten this far in my school career without the pure care and support of my teachers. They are the ones who bring the best out of me, and for that, I owe them many thanks!
Alhamdulillah,
O. Mukhtar O. Mukhlis

What a year 2020 has been so far. Today, I am excited to update you that I will be getting abdominoplasty aka a tummy tuck. It was supposed to happen 4 months ago but understandably got postponed due to the pandemic.
Being able to carry and birth two beautiful children will always be the biggest blessing of my life. I am proud and thankful for what this body has done but that’s not to say it didn’t come with sacrifice. For the longest time, I told myself my saggy and wrinkly tummy is a reminder of how strong my body and how blessed I am. At the same time, my tummy has been an insecurity of mine and I now know that if I can do something about it and if I’m physically and mentally prepared, I can. I don’t need a wrinkly tummy to remind me of those things. I know my I am strong and I am blessed.
All the devices, serums and dermarolling has helped to firm the skin slightly but end of the day, extra skin is extra skin. I'm ready to for my mummy makeover.
I’m not trying to become perfect. I know I will not return to my former glory body. But this surgery is something I really want to do for myself. I want to do this for me and it will make me happy. I’m glad from consultation to now, it has been almost 9 months because I needed to be in a good place mentally. I am so ready for this operation and I am no longer afraid of the pain. I am not worried about the recovery down time because now I know I deserve it too.
I’m really excited for this new chapter in my life and I hope you will support me throughout this journey. I am grateful for all the Tummy tuck videos here on youtube and I hope my experience can be part of this library so those who are researching can get as much information and experiences as possible.
I love this body. I love Lindy Tsang. For a while, this mama has put herself in the backseat and now she’s ready to do something for herself that will make her happy.
Me getting this tummy tuck doesn’t mean I don’t like myself. Self-love can be loving and accepting yourself just as you are as well as doing something for yourself because you know you deserve to be happy and at peace. I’m so excited for what’s the come and I hope you guys are also excited for me too.

This is not the end of Vietnam videos! Good news! When I left Vietnam in early March (when this video was filmed) I never thought I would be returning so soon. That's right, I'm coming back during the summer for 1 month only to film more content. I am only visiting and have no plans to move back. I was given an opportunity a few weeks ago through a flight sponsorship to film a documentary about a boat refugee story that is quite compelling. There's someone out there who really enjoyed my boat refugee videos and want their story told. It's as simple as that. If I could get these stories on a mainstream site, like the Huff Post, I feel like I've done what little I could to preserve Vietnamese history through oral history. If we don't record history, it'll be lost forever. I was unsure but with the approval of my parents, I'm going to accept this blessing and opportunity. Hard work pays off in ways you could never imagine it. Plus, I felt incomplete towards the end of my stay in Vietnam because I couldn't film as many documentaries as possible, including one about my grandmother. In order for me to truly begin something new, I have to finish what I started. I feel very "unfinished" right now. I just ran out of time from having to edit so much. In the past two months I've met so many of you and to hear your support and love for Vietnam videos, made me feel like it was my duty to delay reality a little longer so I could present more content. In other words, a month of my time can equate to two or three months worth of videos that many people can enjoy. I don't miss Vietnam and I'm happier since leaving, but I'm excited to get back to see Vietnam from a slightly different perspective as a tourist and not as someone living there. During the summer, a lot of familiar faces and featured guests will also be there, so it would be very fitting to be there as well. I can't wait to see my friends and family again. There are other opportunities that also came up that allowed me to make this decision, but you will see them at a later time. This is kind of a redemption trip for me where I can tie up all the loose strings and feelings of incompleteness that I've felt since leaving. Again, I want to emphasize that I'm happy and fine since leaving. There's no yearning to move away from America right now, but I do have a passion to create a few more Vietnam videos. I don't really care much about the famous places as I have been to most of them, but this time it's more about telling stories. I will have some travel vlogs as usual, but I want to focus more on short documentaries. Again, thank you for everyone who wrote me messages the past few days. Nothing much has changed in life, I'm currently in SoCal just editing videos like crazy every day. You will love the Vietnamese diaspora content coming up and the limited run Vietnam content coming in the near future. So my question to you is, and probably for the last time is, what would you like to see in Vietnam?
My biggest regret when it comes to living in Vietnam for over 5 years is the fact that I worked too hard, especially on weekends, and didn't have a chance to spend more time with my family. I was too tired from work to make the drive and I didn't want to displace anyone from their rooms. I didn't want to bother them or I was annoyed of their antics and opinions. It was also very hot most of the time as few of my relatives actually have AC in common areas. Towards the end of my sojourn, I visited them more often and thus we got closer towards the end. I will return soon to spend more time with them and to film more content from Vietnam for you guys!
