President 蔡英文 Tsai Ing-wen's announcement of the relaxation of restrictions on US #beef and #pork imports has been welcomed by high-ranking members of the administration, including Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.
Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator James Risch (R-ID), chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and others penned tweets or made statements praising the decision. The foreign policy advisor to presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden, Antony Blinken, also tweeted his support for the decision, which was also welcomed in the business community and in academia.
