Although it is also popular in Kyoto 京都, the 1st recipe there undisputably sold by「松葉」in 1882, in 北海道 Hokkaido side under「横山家 Yokoyamake」a renowned Herring trader, and back then the fish not only fed people, but also used to pay tax & leftovers are used as farming fertilizers for lucrative cotton farms, its recipe and history is traceable back to Year 1769 😮.
