1986年係我第一次跟爸爸去片場睇佢拍戲, 當時男主角係 @sheksau 而女主角就係 @mixue_michelleyim 米雪姐姐, 嗰套電視劇叫《少林與詠春》
Such a beautifully nostalgic moment to witness these two legends working together again today, All the best with the rest of the filming😍

MOFA's Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs invited award-winning Director Huang Hsin-yao, the auteur of films including "The Great Buddha +", which won the Best Adapted Screenplay and Best New Director awards at the 54th Golden Horse Awards, and the more recent "Classmates Minus", to give a talk on how Taiwan is leveraging #SoftPower through the #SilverScreen.
Huang's films delve into the lives of ordinary people in #Taiwan, showing their resilience in the face of adversity. In a year that has been characterized by adversity, with the #COVID19 pandemic and the economic impact in its wake, resilience, determination, diversity and tolerance are aspects of the Taiwan character that deserve to come to the fore, having been oft overlooked in #CulturalDiplomacy efforts.

I remember just asking about you recently.
“How’s Uncle Willie? Have you seen him lately?”
I’m not the type of person who attends social gatherings much. At least, not the type with “adults” around. I declined a few invitations to these dinners when mom first passed away and i guess everyone just forgot to keep inviting me.
I must admit, even though i often feel a twang of jealousy whenever i see photos of other “kids” with these aunties and uncles, another part of me is also relieved i didnt need to go. I guess i treat these events as your typical highschool reunion. I want to arrive achieved, successful, happy... each time these events come along, i feel like... arghhhh... i dont have mom’s smile to shield off the inquisitive eyes, to boost confidence in me, to put me at ease...
This doeant mean i don’t want to see these aunties and uncles. Mom’s bestest, closest friends. I think of them all the time. I just know what they must be thinking when they see me, “阿肥個女宜家搞成咁?” or maybe it’s in a less negative sense.. but at least that’s what anxiety has taught me to think.
There are a handful of aunties and uncles i always look forward to seeing though. The ones i knew mom was so super close with. The ones she loved like family. (My Peter, Pinky, Alfred, etc..)
There’s my godmother, auntie Maggie, auntie Amy, auntie Florence, auntie Yolk (sorry i never bothered to learn your real name in Korean)..
Then there’s uncle Willie. The cool uncle, if you will. You were always so chill, always so hip. You’re the type of cool uncle whom i could bum a smoke off of. I remember mom telling stories from when you guys were kids. Stories of the “Silverscreen Ratpack” of Hong Kong.
Your hugs were the best. The kind that i can melt into. The cold chains from your glasses brushing against my warm cheeks. As soon as i started to sing, your eyebrows, would always lift up in joy behind whichever tinted glasses you chose to wear that day... unknowingly, you were one in only a handful i knew who actually enjoyed my performances on the dining table (as a 5 year old) i could tell!
Anyway, i’m sorry i never got to spend more time with you as an adult. I would have loved to hear more about the times you spent with mom, in the Silverscreen Ratpack...
But you’re up in Heaven now, with mom and with yeah chai! Wonder what shenanigans you guys are up to now?
Rest in peace.
Love always.
(Out of town, no pictures with me but found these gems online.)
