Dispel dampness to improve sloth-like personality
“I’m quite plump even when though I’m not a big eater. Edema is a constant struggle for my body, and I feel lethargic all the time. My friends even make fun of me by calling me a sloth. I want to turn my life around. I want to get a better job and find myself a partner. Should I start by losing weight?”
CheckCheckCin: From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, symptoms like plump, appetite loss, edema, and fatigue reflect the phlegm-dampness body constitution. Having dampness accumulated in the body is like having a wet towel wrapped around the body, so even after 6-8 hours of sleep, you will still feel exhausted and move like a sloth.
Losing weight is a good start, but you should primarily dispel dampness from the body first. Once you are able to get rid of the excess dampness, you should be able to shed some pounds more effectively.
Avoid consuming raw and cold foods and beverages. Instead, eat coarse grains such as rice, sweet potatoes, potatoes, white hyacinth bean, coix seed, and Chinese yam, as they could strengthen the spleen. Also, you can eat winter gourd and corn silk as they are effective in getting rid of dampness.
Do exercise and sweat regularly. If you cannot adjust your diet, drink a cup of rice water a day to strengthen the stomach and spleen and to dispel dampness from the body. Improving the body constitution can also change our personality, and with a positive change on our personality, we can change our destiny. Good luck!

💛 WHEN VULNERABILITY BECOMES MY AUTHENTICITY
Long ago, the speaker curator Shaen and I agreed that my talk would be about about defining one's purpose and how that can help people lead themselves and others through difficult times.
It isn't hard to outline the talk. I know the teaching points, the modality, and the tools like the back of my hands.
I will also tell my story. There are many stories on my path of tracking purpose. But I know I have to choose the one that cuts the deepest. The most vulnerable story.
Because vulnerability is how you let yourself be truly seen. And the audience wants to see you, the real you, not a pretty shell.
But still, sitting here at Starbucks with a venti cup of black tea latte, I've hit a wall.
I have the teaching points, the tools, the story. But something is missing. Something important. Something that will add a touch of magic to the talk.
I stare at the blank page. I gaze out the window. I open my kindle library and look at the books.
Suddenly, my eyes land at the poetry collection of Mary Oliver. Something sparks.
A quiet excitement rises up my body:
"I want to read poems."
A few days later, I spoke to Shaen again. She loves the idea: "We haven't had anyone doing poetry yet! It sounds beautiful. Just be you."
So I open my talk with Mary Oliver's The Summer Day and end with Lucille Clifton's Blessing the Boat.
Several participants say that it brings them to tears. They even share their texts with me right after my talk: "That was soooo beautiful!"
That's when I knew my secret ingredient, which is authenticity.

The second part of my storytime video consisting of me answering some questions people asked me.
Ieally hope that this can help people out since the cases are rising in Malaysia.
Also, just want to put it out there, that it was 100% my fault for even going out for such a big gathering in the first place, in no way, shape or form am I denying that what I did was wrong.
However, in my defence, I wasn't told about the number of people who were going to be present for if I had known I wouldn't have agreed to go, crowded places are really not my thing, be it pandemic or not.
I never criticised the frontline staff, don't take my words out of context before you finish the video. If anything, they are the ones working under such ridiculous conditions and deserve he utmost respect (and a better working environment)
The way I phrased/articulated my thoughts may have been too direct and blunt, maybe my humour is not everyone's cup of tea, but I have always been upfront and blunt about things, the way I speak is usually really straightforward and I oftentimes just speak my mind. Just like you are entitled to your opinions, so am I.
Again, I'm criticising the inefficiency of the system NOT the personnel, whilst trying to explain what happened in immaculate detail. I'm not mocking anyone, just voicing out my thoughts and feelings at the time. The front-liners were very professional, and were just trying to do their best job in a high-risk environment.
I don't believe I owe anyone an explanation at all but I'm typing this because I, from the bottom of my heart do not want any frontline worker to feel like what they have been doing throughout this pandemic was for nothing. I cannot possibly fathom what they have to go through every day and how tired they must be. You guys have been doing a wonderful job and we are very lucky to have you. Thank you so much for your time and effort.
I respect your viewpoint even though it is against mine. If you aren't open to constructive criticism, don't watch it.
Hopefully this helps clear out some of your doubts. Stay safe everyone! :)

I received many questions regarding my positive test results when I posted on Instagram, so I made this video hoping that it will help people to understand the procedures better, and also share my thoughts.
Part 2 will be the Q&A session: https://youtu.be/SFOqC8MJiXU
Really hope that this can help people out since the cases are rising in Malaysia.

I wonder if the aroma of freshly baked gingerbread cookies
reminds you of family gatherings.
Or if the smell of a steaming cup of hot cocoa
reminds you of peaceful nights and warmth.
Those were great moments, right.
But some scents are just capable of triggering other memories.
The ones you were trying hard to forget.
Don’t you agree?

Lyrics:
It’s almost December
I missed the cold weather
Feeling warm at the fire place
Coming up with silly games
I will remember
Your comfy old sweater
All our jolly Christmas Eves
When it was just u and me
Not until you changed your mind
Oh that we were not fate assigned
You go on and I’ll be fine
Being home alone this year , cause
This is the season,
for snowfall and presents.
Don’t bring me my favourite scent,
if you’re leaving it by the door.
I don’t need a reason ,
a reminder of your presence.
I’m taking down all our decorations,
cause It just don’t feel like Christmas.
It’s almost November,
your vaguely written letter.
Left it by the box of ornaments,
just to be seen.
Oh I will remember,
your cherry sweet fragrance.
With the traces of our memories,
that’ll be long gone.
This is the season,
for snowfall and presents.
Don’t bring me my favourite scent,
if you’re leaving it by the door.
I don’t need a reason ,
a reminder of your presence ,
I’m taking down all our decoration,
cause It just don’t feel like Christmas.
